Think that's not a very good idea, as Neowin has a brand reputation as any other company.

Just imagine if you logged in to Neowin in the library for instance, and you had some naked chick as the top background image.

For anyone seeing that, it'd give the first impression of a sleazy porn site.

That's true. I suppose if I really wanted such a feature there are Firefox addons that would let me...

I also just realized that if I did have something, I would have a hard time browsing to the site at work.. :p

Yeah just locally, so it's stored like in your User CP, much like an avatar, just a link to a 990x85 image which then goes behind all this stuff.

Again, no, this isn't something that will be done as a preference with a URL input, regardless of whether it's cookie-based or stored in our database. The reasons for this have been outlined already. There's nothing stopping you using a Stylish rule in Firefox if you're desperate, but we have a brand to think of so we can't be allowing arbitrary images into the header that people could screenshot, share, and forever be associated with Neowin.
