Starcraft 2 Beta

Recommended Posts

I got into the beta from one of my friends to be honest. Out of both SC and SC2. SC2 feels sort of like a let down for me.

The units don't have their gritty feel to them anymore so it feels like Eyecandycraft.

Games seem to have a turning point where all units at the start make the ones in the end rare to get to.

I never once played a game past tier 2 units as any race because they aren't beneficial to use at all.

Marauders, Roaches, and Stalkers seem to be the only units people get and spam because they make other units pathetic really.

So in a way i'm let down cause if you try to do another strategy it fails epicly cause those units are just to dependent on a fast ending game.

So its lost its luster to me. =/

If I get a beta key to give out i'll gladly pass it off to anyone on here.

Apparently, there's a massive update coming this week which includes a map and mod editor. Also, the Mac version of the beta client is set to be released next week. That could mean more invites will be sent out to people that uploaded Mac specs.

See here: http://www.vg247.com/2010/04/21/scii-beta-gets-map-editor-this-week-mac-beta-possibly-coming-next-week/#more-90947

just checked out the SC2 forums on bnet

apparently if you preorder SC2 at gamestop or eb you get a beta key

checked out ebgames.ca and they do note that if you pre order you will get a beta key

i'll probably be stopping by after work to preorder a CE

From what I understand what you can do is go to your local store and plop down $5 on the preorder and then get the key and if you decide you dont like the game then you are only out of the $5 as there is no requirement to fulfill the preorder on your part.

Is anyone finding that it takes over half an hour to patch the game? Is anyone else with Win 7 64-bit experiencing this problem?

I run the beta on Win7 64-bit and it doesn't take that long to patch.

Also when it gets around to patching, it seems to be refreshing the desktop every 4 seconds :/

Well currently, bt.net is down for starcraft and they have a bug with the latest update/patch where it just runs on comptuers and keeps looping.

Yep. Battle.net is down for maintenance and patch 9 appears to be bugged.

I couldn't even start the game after I installed the patch. It just kept looping saying it was installing the patch over and over again like others have said.

Oh well, I was looking forward to getting a game or two in tonight.

I just went to reserve the game and installed and patched and find this. :( It's possible to start the game without the patcher, but Battle.net is down so it doesn't matter.

Sigh...

PS: Nice job getting that Apple reference to a non-existent and unrevealed product as "competition" in there. Cheque is in the mail.
