Treyarch: "We are a PC developer"

"We are a PC developer. I've been running a dedicated PC team since the beginning of this project. We had one last project. We are making a true PC title here and it's a really important platform for our studio, and I'm also really thrilled that we can support the PC community as much as we can."

Awesome sauce.

The single player video looked like utter crap, IMO... like a mish-mash of MW2 and W@W. Will almost certainly be skipping this one, but I'll wait for reviews and user comments.

Flipping through this thread has to be one of the most rage inducing things I've read on the internet since browsing youtube video comments.

I can't believe how completely misguided people are on this installment.

First off, there is no nuke. There is no commando perk, that lunge was no farther than a typical lunge from Halo. Not to mention the fact that he's using the ballistic knife, which has an aiming arc to it, so it's not going to be as easy as the throwing knife in MW2. I cough up the hater anger over the sheep-guided "let's all hate the popular guy" bandwagon.

There are tactical insertions, but Treyarch has vigorously stated that they will allow users to use the ingame theater mode to report boosters or anyone jtagging their accounts, resulting in a ban.

Killstreaks only go up to 11 and you can't use a killstreak to get another killstreak, i.e. Killstreak chaining.

Most of the annoyance with MW2 was the common 5-11-25 nuke killstreak chain.

The RC car killstreak is low yes, but it's splash damage is no more dangerous than a standard cooked grenade. Not to mention it leaves the user completely defenseless while using it.

Wager matches look absolutely amazing and incredibly fun with the inclusion of the currency system, which allows for some of the best customization in an fps since Rainbow Six.

I'm sorry, but I can't stand people who criticize a game without doing their homework first.

There's more to the game than a youtube montage trailer.

tl:dr People love hating games they're bad at.

I agree, especially the 'tweaking' of the killstreaks will do wonders for the game and bring down the crazy pace when someone is on a roll.

Treyarch did a nice job with the playlist in World at War, proper separation between Hardcore and Softcore, hope they do that again and add stuff like Barebone to Hardcore - I'd love 'em for it (Y)

Frostbite is DICE's engine, and DICE is owned by EA. So, pardon the pun, but I'm pretty sure that's no dice.

I think Frostbite looks like crap.

Indeed and what's an even bigger problem is; it plays like crap. Doesn't have Call of Duty's "sharp" feeling nor will it ever.

I am definitely not looking forward to this and like you, I will wait for reviews and comments. I hated SP in MW and MW2 because of all of the crap spawning BEHIND you after you cleared out an area

Yes. Totally. Yes.

It's fine for large battles involving tanks and choppers but for precise and responsive infantry combat it's a tad ######.

I believe also they'll have "true" barebones, which I think means no perks or killstreaks. Which will be great!

If this is true, I'll get Black Ops. They need to do something for those that don't have the hours and hours to spend leveling up their soldier. That's one thing I loved about BC2, you could just get into a game and have a somewhat decent game even if you weren't powering up the ranks. Just a shame DICE did crap all for fixing bugs - BC2, one of my most letdown games ever.

From what I hear, they're adding barebones, since it was a pretty big hit in MW2. (God knows how much I loved the gametype, going 74 and 17 on Karachi)

The currency system might help you a bit with the grinding in time. From what I understand, which I might be wrong, but I think you have to level your character to level x to gain access to a cache of weaponry in tier y.

As in, reach level 30 and you gain access to purchasing weaponry around that level, instead of getting one single weapon every so often.

I thought the singleplayer in MW2 was decent, but the original was pretty good. But I'm not buying another "decent" game with a nonconstant stream of cash.

    • Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat are free to claim on the Epic Games Store by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe PC gamers have two more games they can add to their library without needing to open their wallets, as the Epic Games Store's freebie offer has just refreshed. That means last week's Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks and The Ouroboros King offer has been replaced by two new games, which happen to be Robobeat and Citizen Sleeper copies. From the duo, Robobeat lands from developer Simon Fredholm, offering a rhythm-based action game. Released only last year, the title puts you into the shoes of Ace, a bounty hunter that's targeting the robot showman Frazzer. The fast-paced title offers movement techniques like wall-running, sliding, and bunny hopping to zoom around while shooting enemies, but the requirement is doing everything to the beat. Outside of built-in tracks, the title also lets players upload their own music to populate its levels too. Next, Citizen Sleeper lands from Jump Over The Age, a sci-fi RPG adventure taking place in a ruined space station where thousands of people are trying to survive. The tabletop RPG-inspired title uses things like dice and clocks to change how the player approaches situations and survives their day-to-day lives. There is a large range of characters to meet with in the station, each with their own storylines and alliances. "You are a sleeper, a digitised human consciousness in an artificial body, owned by a corporation that wants you back," says the developer about the setting. "Thrust amongst the unfamiliar and colourful inhabitants of the Eye, you need to build friendships, earn your keep, and navigate the factions of this strange metropolis, if you hope to survive to see the next cycle." The Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat giveaways are set to run until June 25 on the Epic Games Store, giving PC gamers seven days to claim the latest offer. Once this closes out, new freebies will take its place on the same day. They are supposed to be copies of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and Voidwrought. Don't forget that mobile gamers can check out the Epic Game Store's weekly giveaways on Android and iOS to grab a freebie there as well.
    • Vivaldi version 8.0.4033.50 released June 17: https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/minor-update-eight-8-0/
    • The Online part hasn't even been announced and probably won't be included on day one. This is a massive singleplayer game.
    • While I agree with all that, it just proves there's an a** built for every seat.
