I do like (and this may not be new) how they've incorporated the 3 minutes wait for using the grenade launcher.

This isn't a new feature, but it is one I am glad is implemented in the game. From memory the first game in the franchise to implement this delay was World at War, and in my own opinion, it was a very worthwhile feature to add. When it went live I remember seeing people on the official Call of Duty forums complaining that it was the other guy's fault for getting spawn-tubed. While there is a modicum of skill to consistently hitting one area, it is a cheap and unavoidable death and I dislike that factor. Grenade Launchers in Black Ops seem much weaker than they were in previous title, which is different. The only reason I would use one now is for aesthetic reasons - the AUG and M16 both look awesome with a Grenade Launcher, but they don't feel as good as they would have in, say, Modern Warfare 2.

Recently I've been trying to play some more modes than exclusively Team Deathmatch. I get stuck in a rut by playing one mode over and over. First it was Domination, and then Team Deathmatch, and during Modern Warfare 2, Demolition. I might try out Capture the Flag seeing as I loved it in World at War, but for XP grinding, Headquarters and Demolition seem to be the way to go. I really have condemned myself to ranking up slowly by sticking to one mode. I might not get as high a K/D Ratio in Demolition seeing as I forgo my own safety to protect the objectives. Still, I suppose we all have to improve at something. I just hope I can stick at it long enough to improve.

Some days or rounds I am on the money getting kills left and right, but some rounds I am terrible. :( I used to be so good with the GALIL, but lately I have sucked with it and changed to the ak74u and have been having good rounds. What guns are you guys using?

I always run with:

Enfield with red dot

Galil with red dot (or supressor)

AK74 with extended mags

G11

As of late it's been primarily Enfield for me. That gun is just uber l33tness.

IVe been using

AK47 with silencer

Ghost Pro

Slight of Hand Pro

Ninja Pro

or

Commando with red dot

Hardline Pro

Slight of hand Pro

Ninja Pro

I would say I end up with pretty good k/d ratio now.. mostly play demolition and end up 30-10 or so. I did prestige once and wont do it again... my k/d ratio took a nose dive after I lost my weapons/perks.. finally got it back above 1 to a 1.17

oh.. and for what its worth.. ive played with mystic... he def tears ish up (having been 1 of 5 from neowin that ive played with.. my comment means pretty much nothing)

I primarily use the two classes below. Choosing between them usually depends on the map.

Galil - Red Dot

CZ75 - Extended Mag - I drop as soon as I found a primary weapon on the ground.

Smoke

Motion Sensor

Semtex

Ninja, Ghost, and Sleight of Hand (all pro)

The my second class consists of everything above but with an AK74U (grip). If I am playing a group of more highly skilled people, I might put on a suppressor. The above classes allow me to utilize a Blackbird, Chopper Gunner, and a Gunship (or Dogs, it just depends) as my killstreaks.

Does anybody else feel like the Commando is under powered and/or just in general worse than the Galil? Even though it has slightly better stats, I can't ever seem to utilize it well.

I'm pretty much screwed if I want to upload any full game videos of some of my matches on the 360 correct? I have an 85-4 on a Jungle Demolition match that is hilarious to watch.

My most commonly used class is-

Galil with red dot, secondary weapon I use the Makarov without any attachment/upgrade to it. Perk 1 I use Lightweight Pro or Scavenger Pro depending on the game type. Perk 2, Steady Aim Pro or Hardened Pro, also depending on game type. Perk 3, Marathon Pro or Hacker Pro, once again depends on the game type.

I also alternate assault rifles but the only other one I will use is the Famas with the same exact attachments and perks as above. So in essence I have 4 classes. 2 classes for Galil and 2 for the Famas.

I'd recommend paying the measly 250 to get the better iron sights, helps with target acquisition a lot.

For those of you that actually use the pistol, can I ask why? If you see a primary weapon on the ground, do you ignore it or pick it up?

I usually run with Scavenger Pro so I'll ignore.. but if I run without scavpro and I'm low on ammo, sure I'll swap secondary for someone's dropped primary.

I'l occasionally on purpose run a whole game on nothing but the pistol. Mainly just to **** people off. I will only do it tho when I'm on a good team or doing really well. Plus it helps when I do run out of ammo and I need to quickly pull it out ;)

On a side note, I do miss when we would do full on pistol matches back in the first Modern Warfare. Can't seem to get anyone to agree on it in the new version.

Challange.. other then that... I only use it when I ran out of primery... assuming the round is not over by them due to chopper rape and I havn't died by then. *HC TMD* *HC TDM*

not playing the PC verion eh? to bad there were dedicated server come in handy. any Type of Round is posisble

Swap times. If I run out of ammunition I can drop, swap, and pop. The same can be done with other weaponry, but it isn't as easy to do. If I'm using a weapon suited to one specific kind of fighting (eg. the Olympia or the L96A1), then I'll drop the pistol and snag a rifle from an enemy. Most of the time I find weapons that don't appeal to me - I've been seeing an abundance of Reflex Sights lately, particularly on the Enfield. Any idea why? In any case, the Reflex doesn't play well with me, and a lot of the time I choose to simply take my chances with the pistol I'm packing. Normally, that is a Makarov, but I use all of the pistols. I didn't use the Python much until this prestige, and while I don't much like it, I still try to use it a little in the hope of getting better with it.

I have been doing that frequently as of late, especially in matches with newer players. :p

Cool to hear all the thoughts on the different usefulness of pistols. I'll use mine if I have to but its shear lack of damage does force me to drop it most times. Thankfully, Sleight of Hand Pro picks up in the area of ADS if pistol ADS is a concern to some people.

I've used it and it doesn't really make a whole lot of difference to me. Thanks for the suggestion though. :) We should play some time. If anyone is interested, obviously just refer to my sig for gamertag. :)

If I see enemies on the minimap, I don't swap, because I'm more likely to be shot while I'm swapping. If I run out of ammo, I quickly swap to the pistol. It's far more powerful than people think -- it's really just as easy to kill with as any other gun, as long as it's not an insanely long range.

When I play on PC, I tend to do it rarely just because of the fact it doesn't run all that well on my computer, in comparison to MW2 running a smooth 60FPS at 1920x1080.

There's two reasons for that: 1) The engine used in Modern Warfare 2 is better-optimized than the one used in Call of Duty 4. 2) Black Ops doesn't use the engine used in Modern Warfare 2. Instead, it uses an updated version of the Call of Duty 4 engine.

Proof Of class and why its the best : Notes stock pilling choppers is NOT CHEATING GET OVER IT!!!!.

100+ kills Pre a round (CTF HC) NukeTown *best map ever*

no much here.. Just keep killing.. See how many noob do not use ghost pro? easy kills.

YA YA I camped most the time. NukeTown is best for this. Abouse it....

"I fresue to parsigte in any cod game" , and The Call Of The Wild ...

the most surreal thing i've experienced the whole week

You haven't played with every single Neowin user that has Black Ops on the 360.

So don't complain about someone judging you if you're going to do the same damn thing.

I can cure the sick and heal the wounded. Most of Neowin can vouch for this.

Has anyone run across a capture the flag glitch where you can't pick-up the other teams flag? I have come across 2 games now where it is impossible for anyone on my team to take the enemy flag yet we have no problem killing the enemy. Just wondering if this is a known glitch that I am just now seeing or whether this is something new.

    • Have I understood it correctly that iOS 27 is an Apple Intelligence party only? Thus only for iPhone 15 Pro and higher, and especially even beter for last years iPhone? So basically all iPhone 14 and earlier become obsolete and cannot be used with Apple Intelligence and/or SirI AI?
    • macOS ‘Golden Gate' unveiled with standalone Siri app, performance improvements and more by Hamid Ganji After months of rumors about Apple’s latest software updates, the company unveiled macOS 27 at the 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference. macOS 27 isn’t a major departure from the previous version; instead, it focuses on refining the user experience and fixing some of the annoying bugs users have reported over the past year. The new macOS 27 is named Golden Gate. When it comes to the list of new features, you should not expect a long one, as Apple has followed the Snow Leopard playbook from 2009 with macOS 27. First, the Liquid Glass interface isn’t gone; it's been updated to improve readability. It gets a new slider in settings to adjust Liquid Glass, letting you go from ultra-clear to fully tinted with ease. App icons also get an additional layer of Liquid Glass to look sharper. Smoother system animations, faster content loading, and a similar corner radius for windows are other improvements for macOS 27. With iOS 27, Apple released a standalone Siri app for iPhone users, and the app is also coming to Macs with the latest update. The all-new Siri AI app features a chatbot-style interface and aims to compete with Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. It supports both text and voice prompts and provides users with access to previous conversations for reference. The Siri app can also perform a wide range of tasks, including on-device search, image generation, information summarization, and more. Users can also rely on Siri for personal context. Siri is integrated with various apps, allowing users to complete tasks with a single prompt. With the screen awareness capability, you can ask Siri about locations and images on your screen. Which devices won’t get macOS 27? If you’re still using an Intel-powered Mac, we have bad news for you. macOS 27 is only compatible with Apple Silicon chips and drops support for Intel-based Macs. Here’s a list of devices that won’t be compatible with macOS 27: Mac Pro (2019) 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019) 27-inch iMac (2020) 13-inch MacBook Pro (2020) When can you get macOS 27? Apple developers can now access the first beta of macOS 27. However, the first public beta is expected to be released sometime next month. Users will have to wait until this fall for the stable version of macOS 27.
    • Who wants to pay higher prices for the same 6+ year hardware in a new shell? This is hardware where things change fast and improve continuously. They could update w/ quicker/more efficient compute, faster storage, new controllers with new features (not a shell/design update), which are all realistic possibilities. They've done mid-generation console updates, but all we've had for Series X/S are not just different configuration updates (storage / digital versions / console aesthetics). Instead they've prioritized acquisitions, increasing prices, and have lost quite bit of their fan base because of lack of vision.
    • LibreOffice developer takes a dig at Euro-Office in new open letter by Usama Jawad LibreOffice maintainer The Document Foundation (TDF) has often criticized Microsoft for popularizing the OOXML standard for documents instead of the truly open-source OpenDocument Format (ODF). It has also bashed the Redmond tech giant for putting its own commercial interests over everything else. Now, it has switched targets a bit to aim its sights at the Euro-Office suite launching tomorrow. For those unaware, Euro-Office is a direct fork of OnlyOffice. It is being marketed as an open-source "European sovereign alternative" to proprietary services like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. It is being developed by a coalition of European companies including Nextcloud, IONOS, and Tuta. However, TDF has disagreed with this marketing classification in an open letter, saying that it is not the first open-source office suite being developed in Europe, as that honor belongs to OpenOffice.org, back in 2001. In a snide remark, it has emphasized that it feels "compelled" to clarify this because open-source initiatives should highlight transparency, not deception. It has stated that OpenOffice.org and LibreOffice are the only two "genuine" office suites with codebases in Europe, indicating that Euro-Office is a freeware clone of Microsoft Office that has rebranded itself to masquerade as a symbol of digital sovereignty. TDF has also remarked on the fact that those that are championing digital sovereignty now were very dismissive of LibreOffice and ODF a couple of decades ago: The LibreOffice has once again called out Microsoft for its "horrible" OOXML standard which locks in customers. Euro-Office also leverages this OOXML format, which effectively makes it an ally of Microsoft, according to LibreOffice. That said, it is unlikely if TDF's strong words will have any impact on the adoption or marketing of Euro-Office.
