BTW For all people who didn't bother looking for all playboys - obviously NSFW <<snipped>>

Some fine playmates in there. Women back then sure were hot, with some meat on their bones. Today, it's either skinny models or artificial breasts.

It's probably to stop people from hammering down everywhere, to keep some of the authenticity. I did try to drive legally but in the long run it gets a bit tedious, now I just put the pedal to the metal and whenever a blue square shows up on the radar up ahead I slam the breaks till I get below 40 and just go past 'em.

On Chapter 8 and haven't had any police chasing me due to speeding in the game yet.

I do also have to give credit to the sound team at 2K Czech, they did an awesome job on everything! I just drove a Hot Rod and they sound amazing, a real pleasure to just rev the engine and hear it purr :D Also the .38 Snub sounds awesome, like it packs a massive punch - One of the best gun firing noises I've heard in a game for a very long time.

It's easier to just switch the limiter back on than braking, imo.

This game stops being fun after your house burns down, then it's a chore. Chapter 15 was also pretty bull****, it feels like they needed an ending to the game and they just wrote down random **** on post its and put them on a dart board and threw darts blindly until one stuck.

Oh and a suggestion for all the ATi users wanting to use the PhysX / APEX performance 'trick' ( Removing all cloth files except Vito's ), look through the Effects folder and remove all the files starting with "Hit" in all folders and also every filed named something with Crazy Horse. I had two levels that killed my PC because of all the crappy debris, the warehouse level from the demo and the crazyhorse shot-up, which is also debris hell - Killed my performance completely.

With those removed you get to keep everything else PhysX / APEX related and that doesn't take too much of a performance hit.

Umm I saw that website and I did that....then I got the the part where we shot up the greaser bar lol. Ya I went from a smooth 70 fps with my quad phenom II and my ATI 5850 down to 6fps lol with the Physx set at high. It's really not worth it to enable physics in this game because I really don't think physics brings gamechanging experiences to the table. Would I like to play games with ACCURATE physics enabled? You bet your ass I would lol but I'm not going to move to evil green just to get that feature. It's a shame 2kchech got in bed with shitvidia to bring physics in their game. :(

Yeah, I totally agree. The only feature of PhysX in Mafia II that is worth getting is the smoke collision, when doing a burnout for an example and the smoke hits your car and bounces off, looks okay. All the debris just looks awful and so badly optimized because it just sits there, the more you shoot the lower FPS you get because those huge chunks of rock just keeps piling up.

But the tiny features PhysX bring like the collision cloth and smoke can still be enjoyed if you remove the hit files, crazy horse files and the cloth files not tied to Vito. So might as well do it :D

Hmm... So I got to a point where I didn't want to pick the controller back up to finish the game, but when I finally did I couldn't put it down. The ending was "off" for lack of a better word.

:(

The ending of Mafia was stellar!

I LOVED the car mechanics sliding around corners etc.. probably one of the first sandbox games that i cared about the car, games like GTA there is relatively no punishment for just taking cars you could fly around the city bashing into everything then when the car is trashed just jump out and steal another. Gunplay was a little too basic for my liking though i loved the variety of weapons especially the M1 Garand.

The story was brilliant though i REALLY enjoyed watching the cutscenes, most games today i just skip them.

What i cant forgive is the ending, complete and total anticlimax and left me with a bad taste in my mouth, spent all this time being immersed in the game, the stories and the characters who i cared for, for the most part, and then they take a huge great big crap on your head from up high, if they use this as a cliffhanger for Mafia 3 i wont be impressed.

Expect a DLC. Oh, and Mafia's ending was no "better" either. You got pwned in the end. :D

Mafias ending was infinitely better. Just because he died in the end didn't make it a bad ending at all. He was a rat and even though he was a likable rat because you played him for the entire game, and even though it kinda sucked to see him die, you knew deep down he got what he deserved.

I haven't beaten a ton of games, but definitely one of the best endings I've ever seen.

Having said that:

Imagine: Old guy says: "Joe wasn't part of our deal", Vito says: "He is now" and much like he shot both guards when they asked him to surrender his weapon earlier, he shoots both the old man and the chink in one smooth, quick motion, a second later he shoots the driver, and the car slows and crashes into a guard rail. Vito gets out and runs back to the house where they took Joe, which isn't too far. Insert save Joe mission, then cue ending scene. Joe and Vito are standing outside of the home where he was almost killed, and where Vito had just saved his life, the spot overlooks Empire Bay, Joe says to Vito: "We're gonna have a lot of people after our asses now Vito", Vito says to Joe:"I wouldn't have it any other way. It's just you and me Joe, like it always has been", or insert other cool line. Cue Joe and Vito cocking their Tommy guns, then pan out behind them to show a wide shot of Empire Bay.[/FIN]

Just played a good couple of hours. Just "woke up" to Chapter 9, and a ringing phone. Quitted the game there, will take a break and resume later on tonight. So far, I'm loving it. The cops are idiots though. I've always speeding past them, and they never say anything? Only time I got done was when I sped past them at 100mph+ in the hot rod :D

Yea that would have been much better... except in true Mafia 2 style you would have to drive

to where they took Joe

.

Alright so a revision, because I can't argue with that logic:

Vito kills the driver, the car slows and hits a guard rail. Vito gets out, goes to the front of the car, pulls the guy out and drives the car back to where Joe is. While he's driving maybe the old man and the chink are just barely alive, maybe they are moaning in pain, maybe they are talking smack, and maybe at the end Vito tells Joe about what happened and what he had to do to get there, and maybe Joe says a cool line and finishes them both off, or maybe they each finish one of them, when the camera pans out behind them overlooking Empire Bay Joe is on one side of the car and Vito is on the other, where they were standing when they finished off both guys. Insert cool ending lines, guns cocking, etc.

Another idea, because things don't always have to end all pretty and sweet like:

Vito kills both guys, goes back but Joe is already dead, he smokes a bunch of guys in a rage, maybe even a few innocent bystanders (a maid or butler in the home) and leaves the building. At the end he's crying, overlooking Empire Bay, he's tired, his shoulders are dropped, his head is tilted to the side, he sighs, and takes the clip out of his gun, he holds it in his hand, looks at it, and then drops it on the ground, he's done with this life.

Which works for us - because there's something here for everyone. Have you forgotten a password stored in your browser or email client, for instance? Recovery tools here may be able to find them for you. Maybe you'd like to check your hard drive health? A disk tool will display its S.M.A.R.T. data (if the drive supports this), so you can view read/ write errors, temperature and other useful details. Is your system unstable? The System Utilities section includes several tools that can help to explain why your PC might be crashing. And there are a host of other programs on offer in categories like "Network Monitoring", "Web Browser Tools", "Video/ Audio Related Utilities", "Outlook/ Office Utilities" and more. Please note, perhaps because a few of these tools can be used maliciously (the password revealers, say), some antivirus programs will flag them as threats. We've never had a problem with any NirSoft tool, though, and you can read more on this issue at the author's site. NirLauncher is an excellent set of free tools, and a must-have for everyone's portable troubleshooting toolkit. • What people who support this position of LibreOffice do not understand is that EuroOffice is not made to appease the open source enthusiasts (I am also one) and evangelists. EuroOffice was made because some European companies wanted independence from Microsoft Office Suite, which is something installable on your computer. This move to independence was pushed by public institutions and governments in Europe, as well. Using a proprietary FORMAT as default, does not make you dependent on MS. The actual program does. A format can be changed with a simple update in the future in a dystopian world where MS would manipulate the format to lock others out. However, using MS Office proprietary format, guarantees that all the current documents used by companies, organizations, institutions, etc, will be compatible with EuroOffice and the suite will have the best chances at adoption, especially by slow moving organizations like governments and the public sector. It is as simple as that. For the same reason, even the UI is incredibly similar to MS Office. For the same reason (adoption) the choice was made to be open source. Not because EU particularly loves open source ideologically, but because it gives the best starting point to create trust in the project and amass developers and contributions to the project quickly, to catch up with proprietary projects like MS Office. I don't understand how people don't realize it.
    • How old is this tip? Seems 15-20 years old? Processor states for the CPU under Windows power options has been a thing for a long, long time. It certainly isn't new or hidden... Also, with laptops it doesn't make any difference what OS you are running, all of them are configured for battery longevity over performance, for obvious reasons. Wanted to add as well that most systems in use currently do burst as setup in the uefi bios settings, and usually when a setting is "hidden" like this in Windows it's because it's either obsolete or it is redundant--doesn't override the bios and the CPU drivers. There is a lot of crap in the registry that needs to come out...;) It's hamless and might consume 1-2kb of space in total, though.
    • I can't believe Starmer is still there...his party lost so big. He's a stubborn coot, but this is largely unenforceable, so I would imagine he'll be resigning soon. A key here is for parents to buy their kids phones sans Internet access--and set up the Internet at home, where mom and day can, you know, act like parents instead expecting the government to raise their kids.
    • EA launches in-game advertising platform for brands to "connect with audiences" by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The gaming giant Electronic Arts is exploring more ways to inject real-life brands into its games. Announced today as EA Advertising, the new platform is attempting to make it easier for brands to reach out for deals with the company and put their products inside titles like EA Sports FC, Madden, NHL, Skate, or The Sims. EA revealed that its EA Sports side of the company brings in "hundreds of millions of players across console, PC, and mobile" every year. Fan engagement of these titles was also touted as being "extraordinary," with 23,000 NFL seasons worth of games being played in Madden NFL daily, while EA Sports FC sees over a billion matches a day. “Players come to EA’s games and live experiences every day to play, watch, create and connect,” said David Tinson, Chief Experiences Officer at Electronic Arts. “That gives brands a meaningful opportunity to show up in ways that add value and respect the player experience, while maintaining authenticity in the worlds our teams are building. With EA Advertising, we’re helping brands become part of those moments in ways that are relevant and built for players.” Using the new program EA Advertising, brands will be able to inject their products into games in real-time via dynamic placement. EA says partners will have access to everything from stadium signage in sports games and targeted adverts to in-game content custom-made for the brands. These are described as additions designed to "enhance, not disrupt" experiences. "In these interactive gameplay environments, brands become part of the game itself, reflecting how players engage with advertising in real-world contexts," adds the company "Brands can activate across live environments, tailoring placements to meet campaign objectives, and update campaigns with ongoing optimization informed by aggregated engagement insights." Current real-world brand partnerships EA has built into its games include Visa (EA Sports FC and College Football), Lowe's (EA Sports FC, Madden NFL, and College Football), Red Bull (EA SPORTS FC), Xfinity and Peacock (EA SPORTS FC), and Mountain Dew’s (College Football).
