IE9 download available!

Press Alt :p

I swear I didn't see the menu bar when I pressed ALT earlier, but now I see it... just takes a little while to come up :s

Also, a temporary fix to IE9 locking up Neowin is forcing software rendering in options.

On a pretty narrow screen (1280x1024) I gotta say I really, really detest the tab placement. It feels contra-intuitive and if you constantly have a lot of tabs (4+) open like me it's just a nuisance.

It installed fine and neowin is working fine as well, I dunno where people say they have problems with this site. One thing I've noticed is the lack of options but I'm guessing they'll add more back. I had a good number of tabs open when I closed IE8 and now those are gone, but I can remember them/get them back from my history. So far I like it really.

So far I've noticed the speed boost coming off of IE8 for sure, and I have Opera 10.60 installed as well, I'd say it's very close to that for me. I also like how, on the IE9 site when you go to install it, it says that future updates to IE9 will come via Windows Update! Unlike the IE8 betas where you had to totally uninstall those and then reinstall the new version, man that was a pain.

How to do I change the size of the address bar or at least allow it to make use of blank space?

Move your mouse pointer to the space between address bar and first tab and drag it all the way you want.

I kinda like the 'colour conscious' back and forward buttons, it changes colour based on the primary colour in the pinned favicon.

One thing I would like to see is the address bar and tabs on the same level, the way it is now doesn't feel right.

Online installer from http://www.beautyoftheweb.com/ is 2.4MB large and when launched downloads necessary components.

I'm downloading now from

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/download/ie-9/worldwide

It has 36MB. How can it not be offline installer?

It won't install on my system and I meet all the requirements and have all the prerequisites (and picked the correct version). Nice.

Disable any anti-virus or security suites if you have them.

Close any running IE(8) windows piror to installation. Now it should works.

It's a shame there is no option to move tabs under the address bar if you like to have many open, but I think they might have left this type of option out of beta 1 so they could get you to try pinning pages to the taskbar.

I noticed you have a custom Aero theme - I imagine that is the thing making it out of line.

    • I am not surprised because life is the product of a lot of biochemical and physical processes that releases various energies as a by-product. The only thing new here is the detection of these photon emissions. The researches noted this "glow" is not a metaphysical one. They don't even immediately end when one is dead. Things like fires, light bulbs, and on a bigger scale stars release a lot more "light" and they are hardly alive.
