IE9 download available!

It's a deal breaker for me. I won't use IE9 unless I can move the tab bar to its own line. The combo is ugly as hell.

The more feedback they get from people who want that option the better the odds are it'll happen though.

Finally got it to install on another computer. I love the look, but some of the functionality is crap.

And WTF moment for the day: why in God's green earth does IE STILL not have a spell check built in?

No password manager.

So many features that they should have implemented aren't here. I'll stick to Firefox for now.

Hmmm has anyone noticed a graphics glitch, maybe it's a mix of my Catalyst 10.8 drivers and IE9 but I downloaded a file and click the drop down arrow to pick save as, now the save as is stuck on my desktop and won't go away. Just the menu choice not the whole save as window.

So far, it's reasonable at best. Nothing special at the moment but looking at it I can see me liking it.

The performance from the browser itself is questionable on my system. Quite often I find that it hangs in a similar manner to IE8.Also a lot of sites still render with square corners and such. :(

I also hate the white line above the webpage. That bugs me.

It might have something to do with drivers as well, like I said in my post above I have this weird graphics bug.

Speaking of which anyone know how you can force windows to refresh the graphics drivers? Like it does if you change the res for example.

Well judging by how long it took for a dl manager we should see spellcheck by ie14. Hopefully IE7pro gets updated for ie9 soon (who knows mabye it works now, remember it did when ie8 nfirst came out), then we can have spellehck :)

So any way to turn off the superbar thumbnail on this thign without using compatibility mode.

as awesome as taskbar thumbs are, it's effin stupid on a browser.

Press Alt -> Tools -> Internet Options -> The "Settings" button next to Tabs -> Uncheck "Show previews for individual tabs..."

Can't send feedback even though i have windows live login manager or whatever its called already installed. I followed their link too and downloaded but that didn't help. Rendering on engadget where the tweets and comments buttons are on the main page are mis-aligned. Other bug is the download manager doesn't open when i download something, i choose save and nothing really happens, no download manager screen appears anyway and the file downloads with some message like waiting or something similar written on the screen, i'm not sure if its because of my antivirus or not. The file was 30mb so should have taken 20s or so to download but didn't get a screen. So the beta is a bit buggy for sure.

This site doesn't work: http://krakenbenchmark.mozilla.com/index.html

you click run or download whatever its called and after 20s or so the screen goes blank.

64bit flash works nicely, tested it on youtube, works well, not much of a jerk when going to fullscreen either which is a nice improvement.

The benchmark ran and finished for me. You just have to give it time I guess.

Has anyone else tried to run GTA IV with IE9 installed? I think it uses IE to display web content on one of its menu screens. After installing IE9 it just crashes when it gets to that screen.

I think since IE9 uses your GPU that there might be some quirks to work out with the graphics drivers. Here's hoping beta 2 works out any of those kinks and also adds features/options back that are missing atm.

Ah that does make sense, thanks! I have uninstalled it for the moment because gaming is more important!! :)

    • In addition to the "sidebar app list" and "Collections" features, Microsoft will also deprecate the "Drop" feature. Before you publish this news and credit another site, here is the original source: https://x.com/i/status/2067838711870439583 .
    • Looks like the 7.1 is fake effects, can it at least do real 5.1? It says 'virtual 7.1' in all descriptions.
    • You can't, if you didn't notice, it doesn't support surround at all, it's right in the spec list.
    • Hi — I’m always interested in soundcards. Like displays, I just want to know I’m getting as much clean “sonic juice” into my brain as possible as the years take their toll. I’m not entirely sure what to take away from this review, though. It doesn’t really tell me whether the AE‑X is a good product or who it’s actually for. Most of what I’m getting is: there’s a driver to install, here’s what it looks like, and here’s what’s in the box. There’s a lot of emphasis on the SPDIF input. When you mention not needing to switch headphones between console and PC — does that mean the PC has to be powered on just to pass audio through? That seems like a fairly big waste of energy. Is this more something a streamer would use alongside a capture card? How are you testing the sound? (Also, you might want to clarify that you’re using the headphones in wired mode when you mention they’re wireless.) You mention the lack of EMI shielding — how much real‑world difference does that make compared with typical motherboard audio? On multi‑channel: what exactly isn’t supported? Does this mean Windows spatial audio (Dolby Atmos for Headphones, DTS Headphone:X, etc.) won’t work, or just that the card itself doesn’t decode surround formats? And are there any true multi‑driver “surround” headphones left that would even use that? You also highlight support for high‑impedance headphones — but what does that translate to in practice? How does it compare to driving the same headphones from a normal device, and does it make any difference for everyday, lower‑impedance models? In short, who is this card actually targeted at?
