yeah. i noticed there are many parts of that game that really get the frame rate down on the 360

On the PC its even worse. I cant even walk on the strip. Its very laggy, and just random parts on the map. Don't even know why its happening since my settings are on high and my hardware is far capable of handling ultra.

It boggles my mind that it is so buggy, I haven't ran into anything besides the first 10 mins in when it was skipping every minute, but it got better after that.

I'm really surprised they they didn't bring in any Bethesda guys to sort these problems that keep appearing, and not leave it till after the release.

After almost 10 hours of play time, I yet to see a bug in this game (on the PC version). Everything except the performance in some areas (which was solved with the dll above), runs silky smooth without any problems.

Well... almost everything: streamed version | original file Notice the voice change at 0:26

That what I'm aiming for in the game! I havent gotten that far in the game yet but id really love to get myself familiar with the weapon mod system. So far I'm clueless as how to use it (unless there's a point in the game when I'm able to do it and I haven't gotten there yet.)

I haven't really done much crafting, so I'm not sure if you can craft mods, but I had to buy mine. Check around every shop you find you should come across a few. Once you have a mod you can apply it to your weapon via your pip boy and hitting X (on PC) on the weapon you want to mod.

Unfortunately each mod is very specific to a weapon. ie. to add a silencer to your Sniper Rifle, you will need to find "Sniper Rifle Silencer". So you can't just grab any silencer and add it on :(

I haven't found any mods in any safes or on any bodies, so I think you may have to buy each one.

The Gun Runners shop near the entrance to Vegas Strip usually has a tonne of mods (and weapons) but they are pretty expensive.

I'm enjoying the game so far but my one objection is that it's far too dark in most of the interior scenes. I know you can use cateye but would prefer not to have to bother with that. I also prefer the way health worked in Fallout 3 but I can live with the changes.

The way health worked in Fallout 3? is there something different that I haven't noticed?

Hold your Pip-boy key (default is tab) and a light will come on, does help in some of the darker areas.

Sorry. I should have mentioned that I am doing that but:

a) the Pip-boy light doesn't shine very far

b) you're less stealthy when it's on.

I'm not too concerned about point b but my biggest problem is navigation in large rooms where you can't get an idea of the layout.

When you ate food in Fallout 3 your health was permanently increased. Now there's a time limit. This isn't that big a deal though and you seem to be able to sleep in more beds in F:NV which makes up for it.

One other complaint is that the difference between books and magazines isn't immediately obvious. I'd prefer to be able to read/eat something and forget about it so I can carry on with the game. Instead, I seem to spend a lot of time in my Pip-boy managing things like my health, inventory, etc.

These are fairly minor complaints though and I'm enjoying the game. The differences between F:NV and F3 are probably a bit more obvious to me at the moment because I just finished replaying F3 a couple of days ago.

Oh you mean the food isn't instant, and now heal over a time frame, I thought it was something else with the health system.

But yea, they should have pointed out the Book/Magazine difference more obviously.

Agreed....I got my first few magazines early on and though "Wow, +10 bonus to Repair and other skills, I better use that before I forget about it"......Used it, went on playing, shortly afterwards I got the message that the magazine effects wore off. I mean yes +10 would be a hell of a permanent boost, but they didn't exactly make it obvious with the first few magazines you get that it was only temporary.

I did exactly the same thing, lol.

Boone and E-DE as companions = win

I just loiter around the peripheral and snipe before moving in to loot :o

Cazador's are a real pain

Haha, I've got Veronica with me at the moment, those I don't kill quickly enough she runs into and punches them in the face making their head explode, lol.

I've heard Boone makes the game stupidly easy and he kills things before you even see them.

I like how this game speaks to my inner thief, if it isn't nailed down, I steal it and hide it away in my motel room.

Enjoying the game a lot more now that I have a companion, found start of the game quite difficult as I invested in science/locksmith getting them both up to 75, now I'm finally back to investing into weapons meaning I can actually kill something.

I've done just that but nothing seems to change - here's a comparison.

First pic is default, second pic is fDefault1stPersonFOV=70.0000.

All that seems to change is the amount of arm visible rather than an increased width of vision :/

Ok, try this:

Add this to the end of [Display]:

fDefaultWorldFOV=90.0

Try another values and set the one that is better for you.

Has anybody ever been in a position within a game as though all hell has been let loose and you find yourself running backwards shooting like crazy? Well this is what happened to me just a few moments ago. I havebeen sent right over to the other side of Vegas on a separate mission. I had a scout round to see what was going on and there was a Deathclaw and to others which were dead. Well I took this one out with a Laser pistol I picked up at the start of the game in the Dr's house and on the way through I have picked up an incinerator (in other words a flamer) I assumed this was the last of the Deathclaw, oh no, seven or eight of them come from nowhere, and I found myself running backwards and burning them at the same time. The reason why I have so much flamer fuel is because you can modify and make your own ammo throughout the game. It's a good job I created more fuel and picked some up on the way because I needed it. If anybody has been here you'll understand what I'm on about because it was crazy, the developers really took the p*** by putting seven or eight Deathclaw chasing after you, it was challenging but I never want to go through this again because I'm knackered after this. I was sweating like a p**. I already killed tw of them chasing me and there were fve left. I think it was a total of seven.

I have loads of weapons and nothing killed the Deathclaw apart from the flamer. these bas****ds are hard as nails compared with Fallout 3. I managed to snap a screenshot which was kind of difficult as I had so many chasing me and tryingto burn every single one of them at the same time was no easy task or a walk in the park. have a look below. I don't recall the Deathclaw jumping at you in Fallout 3 can anybody confirm

Lol!

That sucks man, that happened to me in FO3 once where a bunch appeared randomly, but it was an easier time back then, I would blast their heads off in a couple of shots each, but NV has really turned up the difficulty on enemies, even on very easy the harder enemies can still kill you really quickly.

From memory the Deathclaws didn't jump in FO3, but they did kinda burst forward towards to at times.

I accidentally walked through Scorpion Cannon when I started the game and ended up with 10 of the giant buggers chasing me out, lol.

I think for me, the most interesting part about the Fallout games is that it's set in a post-apocalyptic world...that's something none of us will (hopefully) ever have to experience. It's just cool to walk through towns that should be bustling with activity but are populated by a few stragglers, the occasional faction, and some troops. it makes me think/wonder if I could hold my own in such a world :)

    • I have never been a huge fan of libre, it feels really good but exactly when you need an advance feature for data wrangling it falls short every time or has bugs. I am all for euro office if they can deliver a good and usable alternative to MS office with backing of govt function.
    • Go on, I'll bite. How does windows (nice comment on an 'article' which doesn't actually involve it ) lock users out of their data then? Been using it since 3.1 back in 92 and not once have I been locked out of my data? Perhaps you mean Bitlocker? In which case the average user (who doesn't mess about) will have been forced to use a MSA, and in which case the recovery key would have been saved to said account..... If the user did happen to bodge around and not use an MSA then Bitlocker wouldn't have become live (as it cannot without a safe place to store the key) I want to point out Bitlocker and MSA are not connected and you can of course force it on without a safe place to store the key, but you do that with your eyes open. So your standard consumer who knows no better sets up an MSA, gets bitlocker and a recovery key stored off box, with a route to reset their password. All of this notwithstanding the fact, if your data is important, you back it up, no ifs, no buts, no-ones responsibility other than your own. Important data lives in at least two locations, one of which is offline and recovery is tested, otherwise that data wasn't really that important. Disks, fail, laptops get lost, phones end up down the toilet, tablets get stolen, if your only copy of data is on a single device you're doing it wrong.
    • Clearly that feature isn't for us. It's for the ad spam marketers so they can more directly target us about going to places we might want to go again...but without understanding context clues. Like for the flight someone took for a friend's funeral. We want to be reminded of that every time we open an app, a browser, or email, right? Right, Siri?
    • Is your Apple Watch supported? Check the watchOS 27 compatibility list by Aditya Tiwari Apple kicked off WWDC 2026 with a ton of announcements, mostly centered around Apple Intelligence improvements, the Siri AI, and Liquid Glass updates. However, there is a lot of other stuff that couldn't catch the limelight. Let's talk about watchOS 27 and which models are supported by the newest operating system. According to the Cupertino giant, watchOS 27 will be supported on the following Apple Watch models when it arrives later this year: Apple Watch Ultra 3 Apple Watch Series 11 Apple Watch SE 3 Apple Watch Series 10 Apple Watch Ultra 2 It's a stark contrast with last year's watchOS 26 update, which had almost a dozen Apple Watch models in its list of supported devices. Apple supported models all the way back to Apple Watch Series 6. That said, if you own one of the five models, you'll need an iPhone 11 (or later) with iOS 27 to install the latest update. Yes, Apple has shown some extra love to the iPhone 11, and it old horse supports the iOS 27 update. watchOS 27 beta 1 is now available for developers and interested power users through the Apple Developer Program. So, if you're among those who like to play with fire, you can download it to your supported Apple Watch. Otherwise, the public beta for watchOS 27 will be available next month. The freshly baked Apple Watch update comes with Siri AI - an advanced, fully conversational version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence due for later this year. A new dynamic app grid features icons for five Siri-suggested apps. You can use a new tap gesture to open a widget in the Smart Stack, and a new Find My app finally clears the mess of Find Devices, Find Items, and Find People on Apple Watch. Workout Buddy can run without an iPhone nearby and offers new insights based on data, including your progress for pace, distance, and workout duration. Apple improved its motion tracking algorithms to measure the distance of indoor treadmill runs and walks more precisely. Speaking of other changes, the music playback on watchOS 27 starts faster and you can create custom passes for any membership or card that uses a QR code or barcode, then easily access them in the Wallet app or pin in the Smart Stack.
    • "and pull old flight details from your email during back-and-forth conversations" The Siri I've become to know and trust. I've always wanted to pull info on old flights. /s
