Mac OS X Lion Discussion

Oh, okay. Someone kept telling me to check the Appearance option and thus couldn't figure out why the three scroll bar options weren't doing anything.

EDIT: Seems you can only change the scrolling behavior if you have a trackpad, though. I'm using a Magic Mouse and there is nothing I can edit in Trackpad. Nevermind, the same option is inside the Mouse preferences.

It is just starting to appear on the more private trackers (that .cd site for example)

Ah, that’s what I thought but I was looking on .me, my bad.

I’m not on any other private tracker, so I guess I’ll have to be patient :p

It's on a certain bay, where pirates go (I hope I can say that).

I couldn’t find it there :p

But it doesn’t matter, I know I’ll end up getting my hands on it soon.

I'm glad that Apple has finally retired all of the old, out-of-place shiny, glossy Aqua widgets that debuted back in 2000. The new progress bars look great, as do the more muted checkboxes and radio buttons. Also, it seems to me that buttons and forms are using a darker hue of blue.

Okay, so it seems that iDisk isn't quite the same thing as AirDrop, though they seem like it to me, especially as iDisk can be shared publicly, right?

I really should be using iDisk in place of Dropbox, as it does all the same things for me.

putting the app online is easy as pie, its getting the app into an iSO format and ridding the DRM protection that would be the tricky bit

edit: i stand corrected, seems this has already been accomplished (Y)

It's a shame, can the cracked version be installed stand alone or is it an update too?

I just purchased the dev preview and I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed I had to install 10.6 on a different partition first THEN upgrade :/ (I have to keep a clean 10.6 so I can continue developing for the AppStore)

10.6 is required as lion still uses a number of essential services that it uses from the snow leopard partition thus the reason why lion is installed ontop of leopard, though i have to thank apple for that, rather download 3.6Gb then 8-9Gb (Y)

What you're saying doesn't make much sense. In the past Mac OS X Developer Previews have always been stand-alone installers, so there's no reason why this can't be the case with Mac OS X Lion. The only reason this Mac OS X Lion installer requires Mac OS X Snow Leopard is because Apple set it up that way. Not because there's some technical limitation. Next to that the full Mac OS X Snow Leopard Install DVD is less than 6,5 GB in size (not the 8-9 GB you're talking about). Even smaller when you exclude Xcode.

it could be an attempt to stop piracy of the developer previews, but apple has already failed with that

Looks like it creates a recovery HD - when you hold down Option it appears. Sure that was one with SL but never saw it.

Also is it just me but there doesn't seem to be a way to exit dashboard without clicking a trackpad or clicking the keyboard. In SL you could click with a mouse to go back....

People, Keep In Mind That If You Submit Apps 2 Either The IOS App Store, The Mac App Store, Or Both: Apple Still Requires You 2 Use Both Snow Leopard And XCode 3.25 And/Or XCode 4.0 GM with IOS 4.2.1 GM 4 Your App Submissions, You Might Want 2 Think Twice About Replacing Snow Leopard With Lion Developer Preview As Your Primary Mac Operating System!

But I installed Lion on a completely clean external drive that had nothing on it at all previously.

Thanks for the reminder....

But can you PLEASE stop posting like that? Wtf is it supposed to be? Looks like a pain in the ass to capitalize everything PLUS it makes it harder to read

though i have to thank apple for that, rather download 3.6Gb then 8-9Gb

Um the download size has nothing to do with the install size :/

I mean Windows 7 download is like 3.16GB

The numbers instead of words were worse imo :|

As a designer, I am interested in finding out if this build of Lion, contains the x2 UI image resources, that this new HiDPI support requires. If so, I would love to see screenshots running in this double resolution, or even better, a zip with the extracted UI images, if any of the Leopard and Snow Leopard theming tools still work? PM me, get in touch via Twitter @mdtauk or reply here if you can help me out!

    • Dude, it's a .reg away from a permanent modification. If you're a power user, look it up and keep the .reg and stop being a crybaby expecting MS to include customization for everything on a generalist OS. The default is what's the best UX for the majority of the userbase, non techie people.

    • Studio MDHR reveals Cuphead sequel and an 8-bit platformer spin-off by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Studio MDHR has been rather silent about its next major gaming project since the release of Cuphead back in 2017. However, that ended today during the Summer Game Fest presentation, with the studio revealing not one but two project announcements. First, the studio confirmed that it is currently in the middle of developing a brand-new Cuphead game, bringing back the iconic characters for another adventure. Just like the last game, this is slated to be a fully hand-animated endeavor. This also means there isn't a release date attached to it yet. “Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do here at Studio MDHR,” says co-founder Chad Moldenhauer. “When it came time to peel back the curtain and share a little bit about what we’ve been up to, we couldn’t imagine a more fun way to do so than with today’s Special Bulletin. The studio is working on this new Cuphead with help from Toronto’s Stop Motion Department and Continue Agency. At the same time, Studio MDHR also revealed that another part of the team has been working on a different Cuphead installment. Dubbed the Mighty Cuphead Adventure, this is taking a different art direction to the original. "In true Studio MDHR fashion, this game goes beyond just taking inspiration from the classics of the 1980s… it is actually built with technology of the era," the studio explained. "That's right: Mighty Cuphead Adventure is programmed in assembly language and designed with the exacting specifications of the Sega Master System home gaming console in mind." Aside from releasing on PC and modern consoles, Mighty Cuphead Adventure will even be playable on the 1985-released Sega Master System. A release date has not been announced just yet.
    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.
