Hi Guys,

I am downloading it now.

Just one quick question, is it advisable that instead of installing it on ext HDD or on a new partition I just install it on the main Snow Leopard partition.

Would there be any data (Music, Movies etc) loss and would my existing application run fine, especially Microsoft Office 2011.

Since it's a developer preview, I think it's most wise to install to a location outside of your primary OS install. In my case, I installed to an external hard drive. But you can upgrade right over Snow Leopard if you want, and everything should be left in place.

It's a beta, so I wouldn't use it as my main OS. I partitioned off 25 GB on my hard drive and installed Lion there. Worked fine.

I agree, that's how I'm gonna do it too. I'll make a second little partition from the same HD just for Lion beta. To access it i should press alt button at boot and select the Lion partition, shouldn't I?

Right after you install Lion, that partition will become your startup disk. If you change it back to Snow Leopard, then yes, alt button at startup.

It should. Just insert the Snow Leopard DVD, reboot and go into Utilities and I think from there you can run Disk Utility or Time Machine.

I made a mirror and bootable copy of my SL HDD on an external FW drive. If anything goes crazy, I can boot from FW and re-copy my external drive into the internal.

Considerably slower. But if you're gonna use that to recover your SL install, it won't be a problem. Even with USB, is a quicker process than using TM.

I'm running Lion on an external USB hard drive and it's quite a bit slower than my local hard disk, but not by much. The OS still feels rather quick, and it can be quickly wiped and reinstalled as new builds are released.

Nope, here's what a default Lion install has...

As for your second point, are you sure? Check Trackpad, the very first option should be to restore traditional scrolling (make sure you uncheck it.)

well i never installed aperture..this showed up right after Lion :s

What model MacBook do you have? I'm using the earliest unibody model that was released, the late 2008 MacBook, and the option is there for me:

Looking at your Trackpad preferences, do you have one of the discreet MacBook Pros that lacked the glass trackpad? If so, that must be why the option to reverse the scrolling isn't there.

Did anyone have any problems with the installer not opening? It doesn't open on my MBP late 2009, it crashes.

me too, i'm quite impressed, very clean UI and smooth animations

how do you delete apps? Now you should drag them into the launchpad and from there I can't seem to erase them.

Has anyone installed this on a MacBook 2,1 (2Ghz C2D, 2GB RAM, GMA950)? I heard somewhere that it isn't supported.
