[Official] CR-48 ChromeOS Laptop Shipment-Tracking

Recommended Posts

Being in South Dakota, I doubt I will get one (for me personally or my wifes business). I noticed one got sent to Rapid City which is 50 miles away and its the second biggest city in SD. Which means my town, being the 9th largest, probably wont get **** whereas places like San Fran get what, 200+?

I wouldn't say that, I live in a town of less then 12,000 and there is one coming here. Hope its mine.

Well that gives me a little more hope, granted I live in spearfish. We average between 10,000 and 20,000 depending on the university's enrollment for the year.

The university here is the only reason we have as many people as we do he. Can't wait till my wife is done with school and we can get out of here.

Doesn't look like any shipments were actually added, just less packages in transit.

/me hopes that Google doesn't decide to change their reference number patterns because people have discovered them

A_Gamer, the person who made that tracker, has said that he doesn't use reference numbers to discover the packages themselves, so if they do decide to change the pattern, he should still be able to find them.

I have no idea how that works, so if they do that, I won't be able to find them, but the tracker website now includes the zip code and tracking number, so my lists are a little obsolete now anyway. :)

I'm sure Pittsburgh has more then 1 zip.. so none are going to your area/zip.

Yeah, but I tried 2 different ones, my office and my house since some were applied for at both and they were 0.

It was surprising considering my office is downtown that the zip had 0, that's all.

You guys act like I don't know there is more than 1 zip here. lol

all these have been rescheduled

0 have been sent to Pittsburgh. That's surprising.

Washington, DC got quite a few (even Anacostia) - however, even the majority of DC's shipments were west of the Anacostia River.

Where I live (Accokeek, MD, a southwestern suburb) we have come up dry (so far).

As it does not have any video player I would venture to say no, however you can play them if you had some sort of web player perhaps like ORB.

Chrome is still Linux (in fact, it's based on a core of SuSE Studio 11.3), so you can always add VLC and MP4 codec support via repos.

Did it occur to you to actually just search by the city name instead of the ZIP code when you didn't see any results for your ZIP?

I did a search for the cities immediately surrounding my city (the ones generally included in the metro area) and saw about 10 total including the ONE sent to my city itself. I still find it odd that only one has been shipped to this city considering it is the capital city and largest city in the state! That does give me hope for more in the coming shipments though. One other really odd thing is that the one that was shipped here arrived on the same day it was shipped!

    • I like the show more options. The only problem with it is that it's not always in a consistent spot in the menu. If the copy/paste/cut, happens to show on top, then more option is the last in the menu. But if copy/paste/cut happens to show on the bottom, then more options is before the copy/paste/cut. But I do like the more options because it hides the stuff that I rarely use. But I would like to choose what it is or isn't hiding. That would make it better.
    • I wonder if "put it back the way it was for decades" ever crossed their minds? 🤣
    • Rescind the stupid "Show more options" in context menus and just give us the full menu instead of adding more steps to get to what we want. The "simpler by default" makes me think they'll go in the opposite direction. Every context menu should have a configure button so you can pick and choose what options should be shown, I know you can do that with some registry fu but that shouldn't be required.
    • This is why competition must exist. Finally, pressure is mounting on Microsoft to move in the right direction.
    • Microsoft is making Windows 11's context menus faster, simpler, and configurable by Taras Buria Five years ago, Windows 11 introduced redesigned context menus, offering users a simpler, more modern design. However, customers quickly discovered that the new menus leave a lot to be desired. Many are unhappy with performance (they are really slow), while others dislike the double-layed design, where many options are hidden behind the "Show more options" button. In addition, over the years, menus became cluttered and overloaded. While Microsoft has already fixed plenty of pain points across Windows 11, context menus remain mostly unchanged. Fortunately, Microsoft is finally listening. Marcus Ash, Design and Research Lead for Windows at Microsoft, responded to a tweet on X, confirming that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are supposed to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." What the latter means is unknown, just like whether Microsoft plans to keep the classic menu alongside the modern one, but according to Marcus, the wait should finally be over soon, as he promised to "share our approach soon." Improved context menus will most likely appear first in Windows 11 preview builds in the Experimental Channel. While we wait for Microsoft to release them, you can try fixing context menus on your PC with a simple tool called Windows 11 Context Menu Manager. It lets you disable entries you do not need, not only cleaning up context menus, but also making them significantly faster. Microsoft has already improved Windows 11's Start menu and taskbar, so hopefully it will address user criticism of the context menu as well. Stay tuned for new Windows 11 preview builds, which usually arrive every Friday.
