Hi, it's called 2D Dock, this website: http://www.ehow.com/how_5487603_turn-off-snow-leopards-dock.html shows you how to turn 2D on and off(default) again I hope you enjoy your Mac. Things just get way too wide when maximized on a 27'' display. Yeah I get tired of looking at the left and right sides of a wallpaper all the time.
