Hmmm... just have to decide whether to get it for PC or PS3.

I played BF2 on PC, but I've since moved to PS3 and played BFBC2 on console.

For the time being , I recommend on PC cuz there will be hell in this game with 64 players, while consoles are limited to 32 only.

What are your plans with DLC Content? Another VIP-Pass?

The only DLC we have announced now is the ?Back to Karkand? pack that includes re-made maps, Weapons and Vehicles from Battlefield 2. If you pre-order the game you will get that for free.

Why is there 24 player limits on consoles? Is it engine performance or networking issues?

We always have to find the sweet spot between player count, visual quality, destruction, vehicles, network traffic and general game quality in all games we are building. In this case we are focusing on all of the above and have come to the conclusion that 24 players on the console gives us the right balance. We had this number in Battlefield Bad Company 2 and that worked pretty good we think. We still have more players than most other FPS games on console with the added value of vehicles and destruction that we are almost alone in having. We have seen some games trying to do more and not always succeeding since it is really hard to keep the quality of the experience when just adding more players. We are not worried that the intensity of the multiplayer experience will not be enough on the consoles even if we are pushing the numbers further up on the PC.

I didn't know the "Back to Karkand" map pack would contain weapons and vehicles from BF2.

Yup, the only problem is that the same guys who made BC2:Vietnam are making the BF2 maps. I know how Vietname played differently from BC2 so I just hope they make it the same as BF3.

That's an extremely strange way to think of it...

Vietnam was an expansion that supposed to be different; it wasn't just the result from this team working on it. So obviously the DLC will be built so that it works or is balanced with in BF3. All these things are discussed and planned.

BC2: Vietnam has no weapon recoil and a higher hit damage. It played like a different game but launched from within BC2. It felt like a completely different game developer made it.

It wasn't THAT different. But you miss my point anyway. Vietnam was supposed to be different, it's not like the team tried to make it like the original and it came out different; it was planned.

I'm pretty positive that it will be available on Steam eventually. I would be completely shocked if it wasn't. They'll probably get their pre-orders going a little closer to the release date.

Just read through the Q&A that Anaron and Singh400 posted. That reminded me of the whole base camping issue, and I really hope that they do something about it this time around. It didn't happen very often from my experience, but when it did happen, it was one of the least fun gaming experiences I had all year. I remember at one point we were getting base camped so bad that I started reading a book at my computer desk, waiting for the match to finish, lol.

Found a good pre-order deal for BF3: ?18.89 at CDKeysHere, or ?27.99 for the limited edition. :) The only downside is you can't redeem it on Steam, so it's EADM only.

By the way dude (too late for me to edit the post below yours); have you ever purchased from that site? A search on Bing gives too many bad results, where people say they were banned from using the game (mostly Modern Warfare), when activated using a key purchased from that site.

    • I'd say the first one failed to be as popular as Apple anticipated, but the easy adjustment here is to make fewer of them next time around. It would only be a "flop" if it isn't possible for Apple to recover the design and factory tooling costs given the number of units sold, which I doubt would be the case. It isn't like no one bought them; it just failed to become the new hot phone of the year.
    • You're right that it does not follow the plain meaning of the word, but in this context, it is a legal term defined in 49 U.S.C. Kind of how "wire fraud" laws apply even if a physical wire was not used. Given that it is codified in law, and it isn't just automotive journalists that don't understand evolving technology, I highly doubt congress would change a well understood term just because technology makes the term slightly less actuate.
    • This is exactly why I keep saying we are not ready for human free self-driving. These little "bugs" are may seem like random one-offs. There was also the Waymo that drove between police with drawn weapons and the suspect they were pointing them at. From a software perspective it is easy to understand how those extremely rare situations may not have been programed for, but that is the point. If AI needs to be told to watch out for every possible contingency, then it can never be successful. There will always be the possibility of a first encounter that the AI needs to understand to avoid.
