Nope, I have had quite a few cards that got that high, and even a bit hotter, under a full load as I was overclocking. Basically if your card gets to hot, you will know it. There will either be artifacts (squares of color, in my experience usually green or purple) and/or the game will just lock-up or crash.

Just to clarify, we are talking Fahrenheit and not Celsius correct?

Ah no, I was referring to Celsius. But this is all for naught as I went back to driver 277.33 as I started getting TDR while just browsing the net. Many users are. I contacted Nvidia though their Forum and they sent me a PM wanting me to send them My VC. I declined as there is nothing wrong with it or I would be having TDR's using 277.33. The 28X.XX drivers IMHO were rushed to market to meet the release of BF3. If you get a chance go to their forum and check out all of the complaints. There are hundreds of them. I will attempt to play BF3 at it's lowest level with 277.33 and see what happens. There has to be an issue with these drivers as my WEI for Graphics/Gaming went from 7.7 with the 277.33 to 6.0 with 285.62

Seriously?? When I am responding from my iPad I make a ton of spelling mistakes, and quite frankly I could care less if my spelling is wrong in a thread about a video game, especially if the overall message of whatever I was saying still makes sense.

Way to contribute to the thread as well, real stellar observation.

Surely you meant couldn't.

:p

The game looks great. The guys in the office are giving me crap for not getting it yet. I am just concerned if I can run the game decently. I've got an i7 920, 6GB DDR3 1600, and 2 x 4870 crossfire. Would this be enough to run at respectable settings? I think I am about due for a video card upgrade.

Not sure if serious... it runs on an xbox 360. just saying.

Beyond that, so far I am disappointed. The story line is a blatant ripoff of the the Black Ops story of a story being told in past tense while being interrogated. The characters you play have a habit of getting themselves killed(because that's never been done before) and a few other smaller issues that make the game feel like they didnt bother to turn their imaginations on. There are TONS of bugs in the single player game play also. Had 2 different xbox's have issues with getting stuck on save screens and a friend of mine had it happen on his pc. Mobs will run right in front of you and not see you. The part where you are a sniper covering a squad of marines, you are told to knife someone. Don't touch the walls, you'll instantly die with nobody around you. One of the fights, the game told me to press X, I pressed A on accident and it made no difference, I still instantly one the fight. The head shot hit box feels off. You can hit some mobs in the chin/mouth and not get a head shot, or you can barely but obviously miss to the right or left of the head and get a head shot. Very disappointed with the single player side. Hopefully the multiplayer will be better.

This is interesting.

Battlefield 3 On Steam? All Signs Point To ?Maybe??

Battlefield-3.jpg

Ever since we got wind that Battlefield 3 wouldn?t be released on Steam, we?ve heard multiple rumours that folks were working behind the scenes to make it happen. This is another of those rumours, backed with a smidgeon of evidence.

The first piece of evidence is this competition, found on the Sapphire Select Club website. One of the prizes in this competition is ?[o]ne (1) PC Game code for Battlefield 3, redeemable for the game on Steam?.

Now this could simply be a mistake on the part of those running the competition. In fact, Sapphire are probably so used to writing competition Ts and Cs that reference Steam codes that they just assumed it would be the same with this comp.

But there?s also this. One user found that the PBSetup.exe file, which is used to install Punk Buster for Battlefield Installs, has been updated with the following install files?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 3\

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\battlefield 3\

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\battlefield 3\

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 3\

Despite this accumulating evidence, it could be difficult since Battlefield 3 is built into the Origin and Battlelog system ? but ultimately the audience available on Steam is just too overwhelmingly large to ignore. We believe it?ll only be a matter of time before we see Battlefield 3 on Steam.

Thanks Bluth54!

BF3 has a single player?

Does anyone know why my M16A3 sometimes is not in the menu and instead there's the AKS?

I think you meant the AK-74m. It's one of two faction-specific weapons. The US side has the M16A3 and the Russian side has the AK-74m.

Strange but this game is playing better on Nvidia driver 277.33 than it did on the recomened driver at the same level -low. My GTX 460 is also not getting as hot.

Good to hear. Cause yeah, if we were talking Celsius, that is starting to get a bit hot, for sure.

Finally ordered my 360 version, all the talk got me convinced. It was this or COD, no time for both.

What you need to do is build your new gaming PC already and get BF3 for it.

So, what exactly is the purpose of SOFLAM? Only to mark, or does it actually send strike as the description says?

Because so far, I can only mark targets with it. And when the target is marked, what exactly does it bring to the battlefield?

This!!! I have yet to lvl up recon so I have no idea how it works yet :-(

I may be wrong but I think it has to be used in conjunction with guided missiles from jets. Once there's a target lock, a nearby jet can fire a missile without even looking at the target.

It can mark jets so you can use the javelin against them and I'm told that your javelin missiles do more damage to tanks when they are marked with soflam, too. I could be wrong about the jet part, not sure. But yeah, all in all the recon kit is pretty useless in BF3 seems like. It's hard to say really because at this point not many people have the soflam or the javelin missiles.

I want sensor balls from BC2 please, the TUGS is completely useless and the the flying thing they get is nearly useless, too. I drop the tugs near mcoms every time I go by one and I've yet to get a single sensor assist from it.

You don't know perhaps if the pilot has to be in your squad, or if it's working for the entire team?

Instead of the recon motion sensor balls from BC2, you got the T-UGS. Can't throw them, but on everything else works the same.

Except for they don't work. At all..

I set mine up down major avenues of approach for vehicles. It is autonomous so it will laze on it's own. Once a vehicle is lazed non guided weapons I believe are supposed to lock on and hit. I also noticed any vehicles lazed get a red indicator everyone can see. The one funny thing is when I laze a target forbad extended period the occupants seem to jump out. I have yet to see anyone shoot at one of my targets though.

    • Microsoft releases PowerToys v0.100.1, fixes a bug that made remapped keys misbehave by Ivan Jenic Microsoft just released PowerToys v0.100.1, a patch update that addresses several stability and behavior issues found in v0.100.0. The v0.100.0 patch was a significant update for PowerToys, as it introduced all sorts of new features and additions, such as a rebuilt Shortcut Guide, a Command Palette Extension Gallery, webcam overlay support in ZoomIt, and more. However, the v0.100.0 version also introduced some bugs and stability issues. And now, Microsoft is addressing these issues in the new patch. The most impactful fix in this release perhaps is in Keyboard Manager, where remapped modifier keys were being delivered as system-key events, causing unexpected behavior in apps. The clearest example of this was Alt-to-Backspace remaps, deleting whole words instead of a single character. So, if you thought there was an issue with your keyboard, Microsoft just confirmed that it was PowerToys. Beyond the Keyboard Manager fix, v0.100.1 also addresses several other issues. It fixes a bug with Power Display that was preventing monitors from waking from standby correctly. Additionally, the new update patches Quick Access crashes on launch, and resolves a Shortcut Guide crash that occurred when switching between sidebar sections. Here’s the full changelog: Color Picker Fixed a bug where the main Color Picker window could appear inside the zoomed-in picker view Command Palette Fixed Run history initialization in AOT builds Fixed a bug where the Performance Monitor dock item could show ??? after restart Fixed the Hibernate command using the Sleep icon Limited the "pin to dock" dialog to displays where the dock is enabled Keyboard Manager Fixed modifier keys remapped to non-modifier keys being delivered as system-key events, which caused unexpected behavior in apps such as Alt-to-Backspace deleting whole words Power Display Fixed a bug where selecting On in the monitor power-state control did not wake a monitor from standby Fixed built-in display detection and brightness control on dual-GPU laptops where the internal panel is driven by the discrete GPU PowerToys Run Fixed VS Code Workspaces discovery after VS Code moved recently opened workspace data to shared storage Quick Access Fixed Quick Access flyout crashes caused by unhandled XAML exceptions during launch or page navigation Shortcut Guide Fixed a crash when navigating between Shortcut Guide sidebar sections Fixed number-key rendering in shortcut manifests and added a Postman shortcut manifest Updated bundled shortcut manifests to use the literal number-key token so number keys render correctly across apps ZoomIt Fixed a race condition in audio initialization for ZoomIt video recording You can download PowerToys v0.100.1 from the official GitHub releases page.

    • Grand Theft Auto VI pricing revealed alongside Ultimate Edition and pre-loading details by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Last week, Rockstar revealed Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will be starting soon, and just a day ahead of that, now the studio has announced the official pricing for the highly anticipated game. This has been a hotly debated topic among fans and industry veterans for a long time, considering the game is expected to be the biggest entertainment product launch ever. The confirmed pricing for the Grand Theft Auto VI standard edition is $79.99, which Rockstar says gives access to the "single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet." This follows what most of our readers thought would happen with the pricing too. At the same time, a $99.99 Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition has been confirmed as well, which lands with "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story." Pre-ordering will also give fans extra bonuses, including a Vintage Vice City Pack of cosmetic items as well as a free month of GTA+. Head to the official website of the game here to check out all the cosmetic rewards the Ultimate Edition and pre-orders bring. Interestingly, the studio does not mention Grand Theft Auto VI multiplayer at all in today's announcement. Perhaps this will arrive later, following the campaign launch, or the studio is keeping that reveal for a later date. Digital pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will begin on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time across regions for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The title is slated to launch on November 19 on those same platforms. Pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto VI will kick off on November 12, giving players a week to get the game ready on their consoles. As for the physical edition, Take-Two has confirmed that this will be available without a disc, with the box only containing a download code inside. This will be purchasable starting November 12, giving players who take this route time to pre-load the title as well.
