Xbox 360 System Update Preview

I REALLY don't see how they will be getting the disks to us today/tomorrow. Unless they overnight everyone of them.

guys it depends if the government shutdown if they do you wont be getting them on Friday because USPS wont be working because it part of the government unless Microsoft shipped it through FedEx or ups which i doubt because they probably lose a lot of money shipping them all unless they ask the testers to pay for the shipping. So lets pray that Republicans and dems can sort this out by not having a government shutdown.

blahism foxnews is saying the usps will shutdown if the government shutsdown. The only ones that wont will be patrol on the borders food inspection and military checks and social security that get there checks and medicare wont shutdown.

then why is foxnews saying they will shutdown if the government shutdown?

AHHAAHAHHAHAHA

Sorry, i couldn't help myself. I found it terribly funny someone questioned why they should question something on fox news.

For one thing, USPS isn't funded by congress :) (should be obvious to fox news correspondents, but i guess facts sometimes elude them) secondly Obama already stated what essential services will be funded. Third, this isn't the first shutdown we have had and USPS worked fine last time :)

sorry if I watch foxnews I cant help it lol second my guessing is we wont havea government shutdown but we see.

Ok I am confused what are you guys talking about USPS and the government shutting down?

Edit: this is the first I've heard of it as I hardly pay attention to news. What does this mean? I know its off topic but can someone briefly describe if there is a length or if it is until they figure out the budget?

No predetermined length. It's an absolute mess that stops the majority of government employees from getting paid because there's a ****ing contest between the political parties in regards to the budget.

I was saying that fox news was saying that if the government shutdown down that the USPS will be shut down too and the guy was saying no then said don't ever listen to fox news because they don't get there facts right and then he made remark about ups and i said I prefer Fedex over UPS and USPS for overnight mail. The bottom line is we were trying to answer some one ? about if the disc would get to them or not.

If the update is for larger capacity DVD disks, then why they're doing live and disk base update. idgi

Well, logically, they're obviously testing that PSP-style firmware updating system where game discs can carry updates (possibly mandatory?), in a move which I assume is to lessen the dependence on an internet connection to update the console, although I didn't get the impression that was an issue.

I could be wrong, but I believe they've already done this in the past with certain games. I believe the original NXE was supplied on some game discs. Again, though, I could have that wrong.

I saw a news article on Engadget, saying Microsoft was testing a disk format, that had an extra 1GB than DVD.

They are not testing a new 'disc' format, they are just changing how they layout their information on the actual disk itself because they realise they don't to partition it up so much like they have done which therefor gives developers more space for textures etc.

Is it a Halo: Reach case that the disc comes in? I plan on trading in my current copy of Reach when the new one comes, but I'm hoping it has a case (for game management purposes). (Basically, what I'm asking is -- is the case shown above one for Reach?)

    • If you don't care to read what I said, then you prove my point. Maybe written media is beyond your attention span. Titles are not summaries my friend.
    • Nobody asked... in fact, I said "I don't care about political leanings"
    • TLDR. Here is a far better title (just a basic example): Windows 11 26H2 to allow disabling Web search results
    • Restore will get my vote, only if to see if things are any different, doubt it though but Labour and Conservatives too out of touch and same thing over and over and over…, Lib Dem who?
    • There is nothing wrong with this title. You have completely missed the plot when it comes to "clickbait." The issue was never that a title tries to entice you to click, that is how titles have worked for over 100 years. The issue is when the title subverts expectations, getting you to click expecting something that isn't there. The classic clickbait example is "Boyfriend caught cheating, what happens next will shock you," then what happened next is the girlfriend was upset...which is probably the least shocking outcome imaginable. If sounds like what you want is for the titles to be a collection of 10-word summaries that you can skim, get the just of the story, and only click if you want more details. That is not, never has been, and never will be what titles are. You can go all the way back to print newspapers during the great depression and see the same thing. The newspaper was locked in a vending machine, all you can see is the headline, you choose to put in 5¢ to buy the paper and read the rest if you want. Those headlines were written in a way to sell the paper, not just to provide a summery. Here are two actual headlines from that time, "Wall Street Lays an Egg," or "Stocks Hit Bottom?" Maybe you'd say something like "it was wrong then and it's still wrong now." Okay, fine opinion to have, but it isn't like Neowin is doing something unjurnalistic, they are just following the age-old standards for written media.
