Amazon Kindle Oasis 3G: Unboxing and first impressions of the new $360 e-reader

When Amazon launched its new Kindle Oasis almost a month ago, many people believed that it was very expensive, priced at $289.99. Of course, it's not the priciest Kindle ever, but it does cost more than anything we've seen in years. Early generations of the Kindle would cost between $300 and $500.

The Kindle Oasis appears to be the whole package. The majority of it is super-thin, making it easier for one-handed use. It also has an accelerometer, making it easier to switch between left- and right-handed modes.

It also comes with a battery case, which promises to bump up the battery life from weeks to months (not that it's hard to throw it on the charger once every few weeks).

But that wasn't enough for me. I went in on the 3G model, bring the cost of my Kindle up to $359.99. Was it worth it? Check out our unboxing - and stay tuned for the review - to find out.
