Amazon Prime Now brings one-hour delivery to London

Amazon's one hour delivery service that was launched last year in the United States has expanded to the UK and is now available in parts of London with a minimum purchase of £20.

Prime Now, the super-fast delivery service from Amazon, has landed in the UK with London being the first city to enjoy the benefits.

Last December, Amazon launched Prime Now in select US cities to deliver goods in one or two hours. The service was initially launched in Manhattan and later expanded to Miami, Baltimore and Dallas. Now, the company has jumped all the way to Europe to launch the service in Central London.

Amazon Prime subscribers who wish to get their goods delivered within an hour can order using the Prime Now app on their Android or iOS devices. The minimum order amount has been revealed to be £20 with an additional £6.99 charge for delivery within one hour. Two hour delivery, however, comes at no extra cost. Amazon has introduced a new feature to allow tipping the delivery persons as well, which wasn't available in the US.

According to TechCrunch, users can purchase goods from 27 categories with Prime Now. Even though most products available under the one-hour program are emergency supplies and household items, there are few others such as electronic gadgets that can also be delivered quickly. Amazon has set up a page to allow users to check whether their area is covered by the service.
