AMD intros notebook 2200+ chip

AMD SAID IT had introduced a 2200+ notebook Athlon XP chip, and said Fujitsu Siemens, Time and Epson Direct will use the product in machines.

The chip costs $186 when bought in 1,000 unit quantities, said AMD.

The machines will be available in Europe from Fujitsu Siemens now, while Time, a UK firm, and Epson Direct will introduce machines based on the chip later this month.

HSN, in the US, will sell machines using the processor.
