AMD Radeon 19.11.3 driver comes with DirectX 12 support for Fortnite

Less than a week has passed since AMD refreshed its graphics driver, but already another update is available. This time it is the Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.11.3 release, and it is aimed at Fortnite players.

The only thing that's changed with this driver over last week's one is the addition of DirectX 12 support for Fortnite, a brand new development that was just announced earlier today by Epic Games. Just like the developer, AMD doesn't go into any specifics about this, though performance improvements are on the cards when the 11.20 update carrying the new API hits the battle royale in the near future.

The known issues list stay the same from last week also, as not enough time has elapsed for AMD to implement any fixes:

  • Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products may intermittently experience loss of display or video signal during gameplay.
  • Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products may experience stutter in some games at 1080p and low game settings.
  • Performance Metrics Overlay may cause stutter or screen flashing on some applications.
  • Toggling HDR may cause system instability during gaming when Radeon ReLive is enabled.
  • AMD Radeon VII may experience elevated memory clocks at idle or on desktop.
  • Performance Metrics Overlay may report incorrect VRAM utilization.
  • Invoking Radeon Overlay may cause games to lose focus or become minimized when HDR is enabled within Windows.

This driver is optional, meaning AMD users who don't play Fortnite can skip this release altogether. Those wanting meatier inners will have to wait until December, which is when AMD traditionally pushes out its massive yearly driver update.

The Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.11.3 driver can be downloaded via the links on its release notes page here, or upgraded to through the Radeon Settings app on Windows.
