Apple Update Allows Parents To Limit Volume On iPods

After a number of lawsuits world wide, Apple have decided to do something about the potential hearing damage problem associated with iPods. As of now, via a free firmware update, users can set an upper volume limit for music / video playback. Apple have also added a 'lock' feature, so that parents can set a limit for their little 'uns.

"As the leading provider of digital music players, Apple continuously
brings iPod customers innovative and easy to use solutions," said Greg
Joswiak, Apple's vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing.
"With the increased attention in this area, we want to offer customers
an easy to use option to set their own personal volume limit."

The update is only available for iPod Video users (i.e. 5th gen iPods) and iPod Nanos.

In other news, Apple is today in court fighting a battle with Apple Corp. Apple Corp, of Beatles fame, is arguing that the company breached an agreement relating to what areas of business the company could, and could not, engage in.
