Asus reveals VivoBook W202, a $279 Windows 10 S laptop

It has been a few months since Microsoft announced its new approach for its Windows 10 operating system with Windows 10 S. While various companies offer products with the OS, Asus is now throwing its hat into the ring with the VivoBook W202.

The VivoBook W202 is a budget-friendly laptop that comes in at $279 and as such, offers a relatively tame set of specifications. The laptop offers a 1.1GHz Intel Celeron N3350 processor, 4GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage, that is paired with an 11.6-inch 1366x768 display. As for ports, it has a microphone/headphone jack, two USB 3.0 Type A, HDMI, and an SD card slot. The unit will weigh in at 2.6lbs, provide up to 11 hours of battery life and has a screen that can tilt back 180 degrees.

Windows 10 S is primarily directed toward the education market, with the aim of providing a different kind of experience. Although it is Windows 10, the OS will not be able to install apps freely like its standard counterpart. Instead, users will need to rely on the Windows Store. But there are advantages that include greater security, better battery, and more. If this isn't to your liking, you can always upgrade 10 S to a full-fledged version for a fee.
