During Inside Xbox today, Bloober Team showed the official reveal trailer of its upcoming psychological horror title, The Medium.
For those who aren't aware, Bloober Team is the same dev studio behind titles like Layers of Fear, >Observer_, and last year's surprising Blair Witch.
As far as The Medium is concerned, you play Marianne, the titular medium who needs to live and interact with both the real and spirit world. Of the release of the title, CEO Piotr Babieno had this to say:
"Every one of our games has a central theme that drives its creative and technological design. In The Medium, we focus on perspective and perception. When you change your point of view, you discover that things are more complicated and nuanced than you initially thought"
"The Medium is our most ambitious game ever and we can't wait to show you how we're translating this vision into a psychological horror.”
Due to the dual nature of the setting, the game will also feature a dual soundtrack of sorts, with Bloober Team's own Arkadiusz Reikowski collaborating with legendary composer Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill fame. In fact, the majority of the dev studio considers Silent Hill 2 "the best horror game ever", a title with which Yamaoka was of course involved. The Medium is coming to the Xbox Series X and Game Pass on launch, as well as to Steam on PC. The current launch window is Holiday 2020.
