Control sequel announced by Remedy, brings a new protagonist and setting

Remedy Entertainment is expanding its supernatural universe of games with a sequel to Control. Jesse Faden is no longer the protagonist though.
CONTROL RESONANT

Remedy Entertainment is expanding its supernatural universe again. Today at The Game Awards presentation, the developer announced Resonant as a sequel to Control, bringing back the action gameplay coupled with a brand-new protagonist. Leaving the Federal Bureau of Control headquarters behind, the new game has players entering a warped version of Manhattan.

The reality-bending nature of the series isn't left behind. A mysterious cosmic entity has begun altering fundamental aspects of reality, and Dylan Faden, the brother of FBC Director Jesse Faden, is being deployed to deal with it.

CONTROL Resonant pushes our paranatural action RPG series into an expansive, reality-warping playground of choice, power, and consequence," said Mikael Kasurinen, Creative Director of CONTROL Resonant. “You don’t have to know the first game to jump into the sequel, we’ve made this one easy to pick up and hard to put down. We’re pushing the scale beyond anything we’ve done before, elevating combat, exploration, and storytelling into a bigger, more memorable experience. It’s ambitious, a little wild, and we can’t wait for players to get lost in it.”

As seen on the trailer, Dylan has his own suite of powers for taking down foes and navigating the bizarre landscapes.

Remedy says that players will be fighting across various environments in Manhattan as the laws of physics break down. While Dylan is described as being powerful, his incarceration at The Old House means they aren't fully developed. Players will be mastering these abilities using a deep progression system, according to the developer. "Face ever-changing threats head-on, utilizing the environment, unleashing elemental abilities and wielding the raw force Dylan’s shapeshifting melee weapon, the Aberrant," it adds.

Control Resonant is coming out sometime in 2026 for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
