Cuphead's The Delicious Last Course expansion pushed back to 2020

StudioMDHR announced today that the Cuphead The Delicious Last Course expansion it announced in 2018 has been delayed to next year, with the studio saying it is for meeting its quality standards.

StudioMDHR's hand-drawn hit title Cuphead was supposed to receive an expansion this year, The Delicious Last Course, adding a new playable character, bosses, weapons, as well as more levels to run and gun through. However, there has been a setback, as the studio announced today that the new content's release has been pushed back to 2020.

"While we initially announced a 2019 release date for the Delicious Last Course expansion, our highest priority is making sure this new adventure meets the meticulous level of care and quality we always strive for," said the studio today explaining the decision. "Furthermore, the development of the original game taught us a great deal about the importance of making things in a way thatโ€™s healthy and sustainable for our team."

The studio did release a new teaser trailer for the expansion today, seen above, giving a tiny glimpse at a couple of new bosses players will be facing next year.

The expansion delay is affecting all platforms, including PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It's a mystery whether StudioMDHR will port the expansion over to Tesla cars as well when it releases, as Cuphead itself is under development for it.

We will have to wait and see how the expansion compares to the base game, which Neowin gave an 8.5/10 to, when it launches next year. At any rate, we can at least expect the visuals to be stunning.
