Daily Gaming: November 5, 2010

Today seems to have been a little slow on the gaming news front, but we have still have details on the upcoming version of Battlefield that will now be Play4Free. The Darkspore early beta for those quick enough to get in has also been announced, while Zombie Crisis 3D and another Pocket God update are coming for the iPhone.

General Gaming

James Bond titles released in the UK

Activision UK launched both James Bond 007: Blood Stone as well as the GoldenEye 007, a complete reworking of the Nintendo 64 original. Blood Store has been released for Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, while GoldenEye 007 is only available for the Nintendo Wii. Both games have had a lot of coverage this week, with GoldenEye 007 coming out best in online reviews.

Battlefield Play4Free announced

EA have released details of Battlefield Play4Free, their free to play game based on Battlefield 2 maps and the best weapons from Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Players will also have full access to 16 vehicles in the game. To read more you can check out the official website battlefield.play4free.com

Darkspore Early Bird Special

EA and Maxis have said that the upcoming Action RPG title, Darkspore is about to go into public beta. Those of you who want to sign up can do so directly on the Darkspore website. We've also got a couple of PvP screenshots below.

The Witcher 2 Lookalike Competition

The creators of The Witcher 2 are on the look out for people who can take on the role of their favorites from the original title - The Witcher. Players who win the look-a-like competition will have themselves put in the upcoming sequel. The details of the competition can be found on the official Witcher 2 website.

Divinity 2 Add-on released

Both Divinity II - The Dragon Knight Saga and Divinity II - Flames of Vengeance have been released for digital download on Larian Vault - the games online store. The Dragon Knight Sage is the directors cut edition of the original, and contains the expansion pack Flames of Vengeance. If you already own the original game you can just download the Flames of Vengeance expansion pack, which improves the games graphic engine and adds more than 20 hours of extra gameplay to the RPG title.

iPhone/iPod touch/iPad News

Zombie Crisis 3D Released

KongZhong has let us know that they have released Zombie Crisis 3D for the iPhone and the iPod touch. It is an on the rails shooter title in which an all-familiar bio-disaster has taken place, turning the staff at Argo Company into zombies. The game has 21 maps, loads of Zombies and bosses along with some good 3D graphics and weapons. You can download the game now from the iTunes App Store.

Pocket God's 35th update brings Double Rainbows

Bolt Creative, the creators of Pocket God have announced their latest update for the game, their 35th to be precise. This update is called "Double Rainbow All The Way Across The Sky" allowing players to draw rainbows over their islands and have their subjects state how great this is. There are a few other tweaks in this update too with menu changes and some rearrangements to make things easier for players.

The Cursed Crusade Announced

Atlus has announced a new upcoming action-adventure title called "The Cursed Crusade." The game will feature two-player co-op for both online and offline play for the Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3. The game is set at the end of the 12th century and is based in medieval Europe. According to manager of PR and sales Aram Jabbari, the games two main characters will not be heroes, just plain men being lead into temptation. He also states that the game will try to be as realistic and gritty to the subject matter as possible, so expect a lot of blood to be spilt.

  • The Old World Burns-Embark on a contentious quest for retribution spanning five chapters and 40 missions that promises to bring fire, death, and destruction to the great cities of medieval Europe.

Microsoft Capped pre-orders of Kinect

Microsoft stated that they had to cap pre-orders of Kinect for the Xbox 360 due to such high demand. Microsoft is expected to cut prices of the Xbox 360 sometime next year to push Kinect sales, though we would guess this will depend on how well it takes off before Christmas.

PlayStation 3 likely to win the Christmas console war

Website MCV has likely bated users to comment on the news that the PlayStation 3 is likely to win the Christmas console war - at least in the UK. The article states that a study has been taken that says over 1.8 million consoles will be sold in the run up to Christmas and nearly half of them will be the PlayStation 3.
