Galactic Civilizations III is free to claim on the Epic Games Store this week

Galactic Civilizations 3 is free on the epic games store

The second giveaway of the new year from the Epic Games Store is a copy of Galactic Civilizations III. It comes in as a repeat promotion exactly a year since its last free appearance on the store, so you might already have the game in your library. This is taking the place of Gods Will Fall from last week.

The latest freebie is a 4X turn-based strategy experience that offers dozens of unique races to choose and build an empire out of throughout the galaxy. You'll be researching technologies, expanding your empire, designing starships, waging wars, spreading your race's culture, and dealing with alien politics in each session. The Crusade and Retribution expansions are included in the package too.

Here's how the store page describes the setting:

What if one day, humans woke up to find that they weren’t alone in the galaxy? They make their way into space and discover other alien civilizations with their own histories and motivations looking to make a name for themselves. Choose your race - Human, Drengin, Altarian, and so many more - and lead your civilization into a golden age in one of the largest 4X strategy games ever made!

When not on sale Galactic Civilizations III costs $39.99. Here are the minimum requirements for this 2015-released game:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10 / 8.x / 7
  • Processor: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / AMD K10 Dual-Core
  • Memory: 4 GB
  • Storage: 12 GB
  • Graphics: 512 MB DirectX 10.1 Video Card (AMD Radeon HD5x00 Series / Nvidia GeForce 500 Series / Intel HD 4000 or later)

Galactic Civilizations III's latest freebie run will last until January 20, and coming up next to take its freebie slot is a copy of Relicta on the same date.
