Games with Gold: Tropico 5 and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet are now free

It's time for the second wave of the Games with Gold December lineup as Microsoft makes two more games free for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. They can now claim copies of Tropico 5 - Penultimate Edition and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet as the latest subscription bonuses.

The two games tout backward compatibility support as well, allowing newer generation consoles play them natively. As such, Tropico 5 - Penultimate Edition is available to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S owners, while Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet can be claimed and played on both those consoles as well as the Xbox 360.

Keep in mind the previous Gold freebie The Escapists 2 is still available for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S owners to claim, with the promotion set to end on December 31. With the final two waves of the year now out of the way, an announcement regarding the January titles should land soon.

All Xbox 360 games claimed via Games with Gold promotions will continue being playable even if the Xbox Live Gold subscription is discontinued. However, claimed Xbox One games are only playable while the account has an active subscription.
