Today's week started on a slow note but things should pick up later this week as game companies prepare for some announcements at Comic-Con:
- Just a reminder: On Tuesday at 1 pm Eastern time Activision will begin to sell tickets for the Call of Duty XP fan event in LA on September 3-4 in Los Angeles. Tickets will cost $150 each.
- In related news, PC gamers will have to wait until the launch of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 this fall to try out the upcoming Call of Duty Elite online service.
- Pre-order bonuses for the upcoming graphical remake Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary have been revealed.
- The streaming-download PC game hybrid web site The Happy Cloud is now in open beta.
- Also in open beta is the upcoming multiplayer online shooter War Inc. Battlezone.
- An upcoming patch for the fantasy RPG The Witcher 2 will include a free DLC mission, A Sackful of Fluff.
- Electronic Arts announced plans to launch a new development studio in Austin Texas. The studio will assist in making games for the EA Sports brand and will employ up to 300 people.
- However another Austin based developer, UTV True Games, has announced that it has laid off a "fraction" of its work force, although other sources claim the cuts were actually deeper.
- The release of UTV Ignition's long-in-development console action game El Shaddai has been delayed a few weeks from July 26 to August 16.
- The Binding of Isaac, an indie RPG game from one half of the two man team Team Meat (makers of Super Meat Boy) has been announced and will be released on Steam in August.
