It's the first day of summer. But that's not the day we are celebrating this week. Stay tuned for a big anniversary that will be happening later this week.
- The official Team Fortress 2 web site has updated with new info on Thursday's upcoming Uber update as the Pyro and the Demoman will get new weapons.
- The long running super hero MMO City of Heroes will add a free-to-play option later this year.
- Another MMO, the more recently launched Lego Universe, will also have a free-to-play option for its players later this year.
- Ghost Recon Future Warrior will launch a multiplayer beta test sometime in January 2012.
- Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Staingrad, the upcoming WWII shooter sequel from Tripwire Interactive, will be released on August 30.
- The fantasy action-RPG Magicka has released a free update that adds three PvP gameplay modes. There are also four new paid DLC pack available for the game.
- Simon Carter, one of the major team members at Lionhead behind the Fable RPG series, has left the developer.
- A new DLC for L.A. Noire, Nicholson Electroplating, has been released.
- PopCap's puzzle game Bejeweled 3 will finally be released for consoles by the end of the year.
- Crytek plans to release an optional high resolution texture pack and a DirectX 11 tesselation pack for the PC version of Crysis 2.
- The Game Critics Awards group of journalists have announced their nominees for the best games and hardware of E3 2011. The winners will be announced next week.
