Garmin unveils the fēnix Chronos, a luxury connected multisport watch

Garmin isn't the first brand that comes to mind when you think of smartwatches. But, if you are looking for one the most complete multisport fitness smartwatches, Garmin is definitely elevating its offerings.

The company has been building sport watches and fitness accessories for years, so it was only a matter of time before it would start encroaching on smartwatch territory. The fēnix Chronos isn't Garmin's first multisport smartwatch, but it is its first true attempt at making a luxury model. The fēnix Chronos is similar to the fēnix 3 in shape, but offers upgraded materials like stainless steel, leather and titanium.

The fēnix Chronos will offer virtually the same set of specifications as its fēnix 3 cousin with a 1.2-inch Chroma Display, GPS and GLONASS satellite support, ABC (altimeter, barometer, compass) sensors, and a heart rate monitor. In its standard mode, the fēnix Chronos will be able to get nearly a week of battery life on a single charge. If you are tracking your movement, the watch will yield roughly 13 hours in GPS mode and up to 25 hours of battery life in UltraTrac mode.

Garmin will be offering three material pairings - titanium with brushed titanium band, steel with brushed stainless steel band and steel with a vintage leather band. The higher end titanium model will run you $1,499.99, while the stainless steel band model will retail for $999.99 and the steel with leather band model being a tad lower at $899.99.
