Huawei P40 series will be announced online, Paris launch event canceled

Back in February, Huawei had sent out invites for the announcement of the P40 series at an event in Paris on March 26. That event has now been canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. Instead, Huawei will now be holding an online-only event to announce its next flagship smartphone lineup.

Huawei has canceled the physical event for the safety of everyone involved. Things have changed a lot since Huawei had first sent out press invites for the P40 series unveiling in the last week of February. The coronavirus outbreak has spread outside of China and in France alone, there have been over 1,412 confirmed cases with 30 deaths.

Huawei has updated its website with a teaser image of the P40 series which shows the massive camera hump that the device will pack. Below is the company's statement on the cancelation of the event:

"Due to growing public health concerns, the Huawei flagship product launch, originally scheduled to be held in Paris on 26 March, will now be delivered online."

Huawei is not the only company that has had to cancel the launch event of its products due to the virus outbreak. So far, many major tech events including MWC 2020, Google I/O, SXSW, Facebook's F8, and others have been canceled to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
