Instagram is supporting small businesses with new stickers

Instagram has introduced a new way for their users to support their favorite restaurants during the COVID-19 crisis through a partnershipwith ChowNow, with the goal of supporting small businesses (via TechCrunch). ChowNow is a restaurant ordering platform, allowing users to order food through their services to pick up from a local restaurant or deliver.

This new feature that Instagram has introduced allows users to access gift cards, online food orders, and fundraisers through their app. Businesses can share Instagram stickers on their stories and profiles, and these stickers can take users to a pre-filled order through ChowNow. From here, users can either buy gift cards or order food.

The Instagram sticker feature can also support fundraisers through its sister site Facebook. Instagram is aiming to make it easier for businesses to find new customers. Users can share stickers on their stories with their friends to show their support. Many restaurants have been struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic and Instagram believes that every sale helps. Although the fundraising aspect will be coming soon, gift cards and food orders for both delivery and takeout premiere today in the US and Canada, and will spread globally in the next few weeks.
