Intel Pentium-M. More goodness to come

... and it looks like they are coming in numbers!

Intel will add three new Pentium M chips to its family of products next week, sources indicated. The new CPUs will only be faster compared to the current Pentium M microprocessors, but will bring no new features to the Centrino platform.

On the 1st of June Intel, as expected before, officially releases its Pentium M 1.70GHz chip as well as ULV Pentium M 1.0GHz and LV Pentium M 1.20GHz CPUs. The microprocessors will be priced at $637, $241 and $262 respectively, according to preliminary information. All of them will be supplied both as a part of Centrino platform as well as separately. Also expect Intel to unleash its Pentium 4-M 2.60GHz chip next month.

Intel will continue to boost performance of its Pentium M processors throughout this year as well as the 2004. In the fourth quarter of 2003 the company launches its 1.80GHz Pentium M based on the Dothan core with 2MB of L2 cache and made using 90nm manufacturing process. Intel will gradually diversify its "mobility" and "portability" platforms this year. The Pentium M chips will be used in notebooks intended for use "on the go", whereas the Pentium 4-M and the so-called Pentium 4-C CPUs will be used in desktop-replacement notebooks.

if the 1.6Ghz Pentium-M is so fast already, imagine a 2.6Ghz one :D
