Major Ageia PhysX Annoucements

Ageia, maker of the upcoming PhysX Physics Processing Unit, has announced numerous titles shipping with support for the add-in card to enhance environment physics in PC games. Included in the plethora of press releases are some well-known, highly anticipated titles from major game studios. In addition, availability dates for the actual hardware have been released.

Among those mentioned are Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, an upcoming futuristic RTS from Microsoft Game Studios, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter from Ubisoft, and of course Unreal Tournament 2007 from Epic Games. For those with an MMORPG addiction, NC Soft's City of Villians will also support the PPU. Lesser known but equally interesting announcements include support for DarkBASIC Professional, a game creation suite from The Game Creators.

So, now that you know some of the titles shipping with support, what about the hardware? PhysX models from Asus and BFG will be available in May, with add-in cards already shipping to some OEMs such as Alienware, Dell, and Falcon Northwest. Currently, Alienware is offering the board with 128MB GDDR3 RAM onboard as an add-in option for an additional $274.

When more information becomes available, we'll bring it to you.
