Microsoft announces a bunch of new Teams features at Build 2020

Microsoft's Build 2020 developer conference kicks off today, and there are plenty of new features for its Teams collaboration service on the way. First up is a new Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code Teams extension, which is now in preview. You can build your app, publish it to your company's catalog, or publish it to the Teams store.

There are also new Power Platform integrations. For one thing, you can now add your low-cost bot from Power Virtual Agents, and you'll even be able to include them in the Teams app store. They also support single sign-on, so you won't have to sign in again when using them. Adding to the theme of discoverability, Power Apps integration is getting a big feature, which is a simple "Add to Teams" button that will automatically push the Power App to the Teams app store.

Microsoft is also making it easier to share Power BI reports to Teams with a new "Share to Teams" button, and Power Automate can take insights from Shifts to create different workflows. As you can see, there's a big Power Platform focus here.

Next up, the Bookings app is getting integration into Teams. This was announced in March, but now it's generally available. As the name implies, Bookings is meant to manage schedule appointments, meetings, and so on.

Yet another new Teams feature is customizable templates for a new team. No longer do you have to start your teams from the ground up, as there will be options like crisis response, hospital ward, bank branch, and a bunch more. This will all be available in the coming months.

Finally, Teams is getting Skype TX interoperability and NDI support. This should allow you to create larger-scale productions, such as conferences, press briefings, and more. This feature is coming in June.
