Microsoft Photos on Windows 10 Mobile gets rolled back with update

A few days ago, Microsoft released a major update for its Photos app on Windows 10 Mobile, introducing a refreshed design, new editing tools, and more. In what some may feel is an unsurprising move, the company has now rolled out a new update for users on the Fast ring that reverts the app back to its former self.

Although the previous version introduced several new features, many users reported performance issues following that update; the app was noticeably slower on older Windows phones. Similarly, it was evident that the updated interface was not suitable for a mobile device. This is perhaps one of the reasons why the company has decided to move back to the more familiar mobile layout for the application. In essence, Photos for Windows 10 Mobile is now exactly like it was before the previous update.

Notably, the former version was only released to Insiders on the Fast ring, which is why this rollback won't affect the wider public. Microsoft has not yet made clear whether or not the previous update was made by accident. In any case, it will be interesting to see what, if any, major changes will be brought to the Photos app on Windows 10 Mobile in the future.
