Microsoft shows off Xbox One Friends app in new video

With the Xbox One launch just a few weeks away, Microsoft is slowly but surely showing off more of what Microsoft's next generation console can do. Today, the company uploaded a video on YouTube that shows for the first time how the Friends app for Xbox One will work.

The app will, of course, display a list of all of a person's friends. Users can have up to 1,000 friends, but if someone has a long list to browse from, they can also pick some of their friends to be favorites so they don't have to go through the entire list. An Xbox One user can also have an infinite number of followers. The difference between a follower and a friend is that the person being followed has more control over what they show of their profile and activity online, while a friend basically exposes their entire Xbox One profile and activity.

The new user profile page for Xbox One has improved high resolution avatars, along with a list of game achievements, current and past activity and a person's online player reputation, which indicates if he or she will be a good or bad player to connect with in matches.

There's also an activity feed that's updated in real time that shows what a person's friends are doing, whether it is playing a game, watching a video and more. Overall it makes it easier for a person to jump into an online game with a party of friends.
