Microsoft: Windows 10 is ready to serve China's public sector

Microsoft's attempt to penetrate China's government sector might finally be coming to fruition, as the specialized version of Windows 10 that the company has been working on for local governments and State-owned enterprises in the country "is now in a good position".

The system, which is being developed by the corporation in partnership with state-owned company China Electronics Technology Group Corp, is equipped with tailor-made security features. The specialized OS has now been tested by three large enterprises and is ready to be deployed, according to Microsoft.

Alain Crozier, CEO of Microsoft Greater China said in an interview:

"We have already developed the first version of the Windows 10 government secure system. It has been tested by three large enterprise customers. We have worked extensively to make it secure and controllable. We are now ready to serve the market,"

Announced in December 2015, the joint venture named C&M Information Technologies is the exclusive licensor for government and critical infrastructure state-owned enterprise customers of a government-approved Windows 10 image.

The Redmond company is also witnessing growth in China's commercial market, which is expected to grow this year, as well as the cloud market where it has over 70,000 Chinese customers- up from 65,000 last year. Crozier added that the "enterprises that deployed cloud solutions three or four years ago are aggressively increasing their bets on the technology".

This is a huge step forward for the company which was embroiled in a grueling antitrust battle in the country for the past couple of years. Microsoft has previously worked on specialized versions of Minecraft for China.
