Minecraft Caves & Cliffs Update: Part II launches on November 30

Minecraft Caves and Cliffs part 2

It was almost six months ago when Mojang released Part I of the Caves & Cliffs update for Minecraft, and finally, Part II is almost ready. The second installment is coming to the hit sandbox on November 30, and it's bringing major changes to the world generation and height limits as its key features.

Following the update, Minecraft's height limit will be 384 blocks, giving builders 128 more blocks total over the current limit. This allows for much steeper mountains and deeper caves, with complete overhauls also hitting the generation systems for far more complex environments. Both mountains and caves are getting sub-biomes as well.

Other features include larger, snake-like ore veins, amethysts, new music tracks, candles, and balance changes to existing elements. However, a handful of previously announced features won't be making it into Caves & Cliffs Part II, them being archeology, bundles, and goat horns. Mojang said these additions have been put on hold for a future update where they can be implemented "in the best possible way", though it will take time.

Expect to see the complete changelogs when the update is rolling out later this month.

Minecraft Caves & Cliffs Update: Part II will be rolling out on PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. The Bedrock and Java version on PC are gaining the update simultaneously. Following this, Mojang will deliver the Minecraft: The Wild Update containing ancient cities, frogs, and more features in 2022.
