Minecraft Windows 10 Edition gets cross-platform multiplayer option in latest update

Microsoft has announced major updates to the Minecraft Pocket and Windows 10 Editions which now include multiple new features along with support for cross-platform gameplay with up to five players.

Although, Mojang has revealed that Minecraft 2 won't be launched any time soon, there is still a lot that the company has to offer with the original series and on new platforms. The Minecraft Pocket and Windows 10 Editions have been updated today with a bunch of new features that will make the game more enjoyable on the go.

The Pocket Edition has been updated to version 0.12.1and Microsoft is calling it the "biggest update to date" for the mobile game. According to the company, the touch controls have been revamped, controller support has been added along with a new controller mapping screen. Weather effects from Windows 10 Edition seem to have made it to the mobile version as well.

The Windows 10 Edition Beta on the other hand has been updated to support cross-platform play over a local area network with Pocket Edition players or over Xbox Live with up to five players. Other additions include new equipments to build in the Minecraft environment.
