NASCAR looks to Windows to move even faster

NASCAR officials are looking to Microsoft to help make their pre-race inspection process faster, and they are doing it by removing the arduous paper process that was previously in place.

NASCAR is a sport that is all about going fast, but one part of the pre-race process was stuck using yesterday's technology. Before any NASCAR race begins, every car must go through a pre-race inspection to make sure that all cars are on a level playing field.

This pre-race process previously involved pen and paper, but that is going away thanks to some help from Windows; NASCAR and Microsoft have built a new app that streamlines this process. You can watch the video below to get a better idea of how the app works to speed up pre-race inspection.

The short of this is that by doing away with paper and using the new app, the process is streamlined which means less time for teams in the inspection pit and more time preparing for the race.

This isn't the first time that we have seen a Microsoft product help improve a NASCAR team. Early last year we saw how one Toyota team had adopted using a Surface and their own custom application to help improve their own internal pre-and-post race data processing.
