Google has released a new experimental feature called Web Guide, which uses AI to organize the Google Search results page. The feature makes it easier to find information and web pages, according to the company.

The search giant explained that Web Guide is powered by a custom version of Gemini to better understand search queries and content on the web. The feature groups web links in helpful ways, such as web pages related to specific aspects of your query.

Google Web Guide uses a query fan-out technique (also seen on AI Mode) to perform concurrent related searches to find the most relevant results. You can use the feature with open-ended searches and detailed multi-sentence queries.

For instance, you can type long queries like this one to try out the feature:

My family is spread across multiple time zones. What are the best tools for staying connected and maintaining close relationships despite the distance?

Web Guide is available when you select the "Web" filter/tab on the Google Search results page, provided you have opted in to the Search Labs experiment. Let's say you're planning a solo trip to another country. The feature will populate AI-organized results covering topics such as comprehensive travel guides, personal experiences from fellow travelers, and safety recommendations.

The feature adds headers and short summaries before presenting a group of links, with an option to load more content within each category. You can switch back to the regular experience at any time by clicking the "Standard Web" option at the top of the results page. Google said that it will bring AI-organized results to other parts of Search, including the "All" tab.

This adds to the growing list of generative AI features available on Google Search. AI Overviews is one of the earliest features to arrive, with the ability to summarize search results and suggest bizarre ways to make a pizza. It was followed by AI Mode, a more advanced tool to offer in-depth, conversational answers to complex questions.
