New Windows 8 infographic looks at reactions via Twitter

Ever since Microsoft showed off Windows 8 for the first time public at the BUILD Conference earlier this month, there's been a ton of media coverage and opinions about the the next version of Microsoft's operating system. Now the company Mashwork has created a new infographic that goes over what the reactions to Windows 8 have been like from Twitter users. The company collected 65,968 Twitter messages from June 15 to September 22 that mentioned Windows 8 in their tweets.

According to their results, 15 percent of the Twitter messages were on the user's first reactions to Windows 8. 47 percent of those messages were excited by the operating system while 33 percent offered suggestions. Only 20 percent of the Windows 8 Twitter messages expressed skepticism over the upcoming new OS. The actual features of Windows 8 generated 41 percent of Twitter messages. Of those tweets, 34 percent discussed the faster boot times for Windows 8, 24 percent seem to talk about Windows 8's Xbox Live/Xbox 360 support and another 20 percent talked about the new Metro user interface. The other 20 percent discussed other topics.

One interesting topic in the infographic concerns Windows 8 as it relates to hardware. While most of the Twitter messages were "optimistic or intrigued" with the idea of running Windows 8 on a tablet device, a whopping 44 percent of messages concerning the operating system on a PC said they didn't think that the OS would work on a standard PC.
