Nintendo announces 2DS price cut to $79.99

Nintendo has revealed that its 2DS - which launched in 2013 for $129.99, before falling to $99.99 last year - will get a further price reduction from next week, bringing it down to just $79.99.

If you've been thinking of buying Nintendo's 2DS in the US, you might want to wait another week before doing so. The company has announced that it is reducing the price of its entry-level console later this month.

The Nintendo 2DS originally launched in 2013 priced at $129.99, with support for all of the games available on the 3DS, but playable only in 2D. The 2DS was reduced to $99.99 last year, but from May 20, its price will fall further to just $79.99.

Nintendo also made headlines earlier this week for a very different reason, when it announced a partnership with Microsoft to bring Super Mario to Minecraft on the Wii U.
