No G5 PowerBooks on horizon

Apple's director of product marketing for portables and wireless Dave Russell thinks "it's going to be a while" before Apple can deliver a PowerBook G5. Speaking to Computerworld, Russell agreed that Apple would one day like to offer a G5 PowerBook, if the company can figure out a way to keep the PowerBook cool. Jon Rubinstein, Apple's senior vice president of Hardware Engineering recently described the possibility of a G5 PowerBook as "an issue of good, solid engineering." "We think the G4 has a very long life in the PowerBook," Russell said.

Apple's notebook product manager added that Apple is "looking at" a recently-reported problem in which some users have complained at blemishes appearing on their PowerBook screens. Computerworld claims Russell said that any flawed machines would either be repaired and sent back, or kept by Apple for examination.
