Early this month, OpenAI announced that Codex had reached 3 million weekly active users. Last week, the startup rolled out a major update for Codex, adding Computer Use support, image generation, and more.
Today, OpenAI announced that Codex has now reached the 4 million weekly active user milestone. In other words, Codex added 1 million weekly active users in just two weeks. This is especially impressive given that Codex is primarily aimed at developers and professionals.
Apart from individual developers, enterprises are adopting Codex into real workflows across the software development lifecycle. Beyond software engineering tasks, Codex is also being used by non-engineering teams to aggregate information from different tools, analyze data, and create plans or drafts. To improve the adoption of Codex among non-engineering users in enterprises, OpenAI is launching Codex Labs.
Codex Labs will enable enterprises to bring OpenAI experts directly into their organizations to help teams adopt Codex to solve real-world problems. These experts will conduct hands-on workshops and working sessions, allowing enterprises to learn how to integrate Codex into their existing workflows.
Here's what Codex Labs will provide:
- Workflow-specific demos tailored to how your teams build, review, debug, document, and ship software.
- Hands-on implementation guidance for developers, reviewers, technical leads, and internal champions.
- Adoption support to help teams redesign workflows, connect Codex to existing tools, and scale usage across the organization.
- Interactive working sessions designed for real questions, practical use cases, and next steps your team can act on.
OpenAI has partnered with several global systems integrators, including Accenture, Capgemini, CGI, Cognizant, Infosys, PwC, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), to help enterprises deploy high-value Codex use cases.
The OpenAI team wrote the following regarding their partnership with GSIs:
The demand we’re seeing is outpacing our ability to help enterprises adopt Codex as quickly as they’d like. So, we are also working with leading global systems integrators (GSIs) to scale that impact. These firms know how to operate inside large enterprises. They know how to modernize software delivery, integrate new systems, support change across complex organizations, and help customers move from pilot to production.
