OPPO announces the new Reno4 series for European markets

Today, during a livestreamed event, Chinese manufacturer OPPO announced the new Reno4 series of smartphones for the European market. OPPO had launched the Reno4 Pro in India back in the summer, and we already reviewed that phone, but the new European lineup is different in a few ways, and it includes three devices - the Reno4 Pro 5G, the Reno4 5G, and the Reno4 Z 5G.

The Reno4 Pro 5G is naturally the top-tier model, though it's still in the upper mid-range in some ways. It's powered by a Snapdragon 765 5G chipset, along with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, which isn't expandable. It has a 6.5-inch Full HD+ (2400x1080) AMOLED display, which has a 90Hz refresh rate. The battery is 4000mAh and it supports OPPO's 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charging.

The triple camera setup on the back consists of a 48MP main camera, a 13MP telephoto, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens that's optimized for night-time video recording. The selfie camera is a 32MP unit.

The Reno4 5G tones things down a bit, but it uses the same chipset, this time paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and this also can't be expanded with a microSD card. The display is slightly smaller at 6.4 inches, and there's no 90Hz refresh rate, but it's the same resolution. Powering all that is a 4020mAh battery which supports 65W fast charging.

It has a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP monochrome lens, so the setup is far less interesting than the top-tier model. The front-facing camera is still 32MP, though there's an addition 2MP depth sensor as well.

Finally, the Reno4 Z 5G is the cheapest of the models introduced today, and it's the first 5G smartphone in Europe to come with a MediaTek processor, specifically the MediaTek Dimensity 800. It also has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and you won't be able to expand that further. It has a 6.57-inch LTPS LCD display with the same Full HD+ resolution, however, it surprisingly has a higher 120Hz refresh rate. The battery is 4,000mAh, but it only supports 18W charging.

The camera setup includes four rear cameras, including a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide, a 2MP monochrome lens for portraits, and another 2MP "vintage" monochrome lens for portraits. On the front, there's a 16MP main camera and a secondary 2MP depth sensor.

All of these devices will be available on October 15, though you can pre-order them now. The OPPO Reno4 Pro 5G costs €799/£699, and it comes in Galactic Blue or Space Black. There will also be a limited edition Glitter Green variant coming from a partnership with PANTONE, and that will cost €849.

The Reno4 5G costs €599 or £499 and it also comes in Galactic Blue or Space Black, though the colors are slightly different in this model. Finally, the Reno4 Z 5G costs €399 or £329, and it comes in Ink Black or Dew White.

OPPO also announced that the OPPO Watch, which we also reviewed a few weeks ago, is coming to Europe, with the LTE variant costing €399.
