Patch Tuesday: Here's what's new for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1

Today is Patch Tuesday, which means that not only is Microsoft releasing new updates for Windows 10, but it's also patching older versions of the OS that are still supported, like Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012. Interestingly, there only seems to be security updates this month.

Here's the changelog for each of the updates:

  • Security updates to Windows media, Windows Shell, Windows Hyper-V, Windows datacenter networking, Windows kernel, Windows virtualization and kernel, Microsoft JET Database Engine, Windows MSXML, and Windows Server.

If you're on Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 22012 R2, you're going to get KB4457129, which you can manually download here. There's also a security-only update, KB4457143, which seems to be the same, and you can get that here.

If you're on Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1, you're going to get KB4457144, which can be downloaded here. The security-only counterpart - which once again is exactly the same - is KB4457145, and you can get that here.

Finally, those on Windows Server 2012 will see KB4457135, which you can download here. The security-only update is KB4457140, and you can grab that here.
