Phones4u launches LIFE Mobile MVNO on EE's network

Phones4U is one of the UK's largest independent phone retailers, but now it seems they are poised to enter the fight with the other carriers. Phones4U just announced, via an official press release, that they are launching their own MVNO ( Mobile Virtual Network Operator ). They will be using EE's actual network infrastructure but they will only have access to 2G/3g speeds. According to the press release, EE “will make 4G available for LIFE Mobile customers later in 2013.”

The network will launch in March and so far princing and deals have not been announced. However, judging from the press release, we can assume that the company will be focusing on mobile data usage by claiming that "Life Mobile, will offer a wide range of great value tariffs and services that include data packages as standard, reflecting the changing nature of customer usage."

By launching this network, Phone4U will be fighting against Carphone Warehouse's own virtual network called Talk Mobile and of course against the 4 major UK carriers. It will be very interesting to see if they are able to penetrate the market and gain any significant marketshare but all of that rests on how good their deals will be.
