PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has set a new peak user record on Steam

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds now has the record for the most number of concurrent online players on Steam in a 24 hour period. PUBG with 1.3 million players, beat out Dota 2 to clinch the title.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds seems to be a big hit given the milestones it has achieved in such a short time. A few weeks ago, we reported that PUBG briefly surpassed Dota 2 as the most played game on Steam, followed by news that it had sold over 10 million copies. Not to rest on its laurels, the game now possesses a new all-time record for the peak player count on Steam with over 1.3 million players fighting for survival, exceeding the record set by Dota 2.

The official announcement came from the game's Creative Director, stating that it had 1,342,857 concurrent online players over a 24 hour period, beating the previous record of 1,295,114 players held by Dota 2.

As of the time of writing, over 11 million copies of the game have been sold according to SteamSpy. This highlights the popularity of the game, and the records might continue should momentum continues on its trajectory, especially when considering that PUBG is getting set for an Xbox release.
